'''Levitate''' (Japanese: '''ふゆう''' ''Floating'') is an [[Ability]] introduced in [[Generation III]]. Thirty-three {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} can have this Ability.

Levitate renders the user immune to most {{type|Ground}} moves (except for {{m|Sand Attack}} and {{m|Thousand Arrows}}), {{m|Spikes}}, {{m|Toxic Spikes}}, {{m|Misty Terrain}}, {{m|Grassy Terrain}}, {{m|Electric Terrain}}, {{a|Arena Trap}}, and damage from {{m|Sky Drop}}. These immunities can be lost if the user is holding an {{DL|In-battle effect item|Iron Ball}}, is under the effects of {{m|Gravity}} or {{m|Ingrain}}, has been hit by {{m|Smack Down}} or {{m|Thousand Arrows}}, or if the opponent has {{a|Mold Breaker}}, {{a|Teravolt}}, or {{a|Turboblaze}}.

Many Pokémon with this Ability are eligible to enter [[Sky Battle]]s; however, some Pokémon—such as {{p|Gengar}}—are ineligible, due to them making a contact with the ground when entering the battle.

*Many non-{{type|Flying}} Pokémon that have been seen to be capable of floating or flying, such as {{p|Beedrill}}, cannot have this Ability.   

**{{p|Shedinja}} also cannot have this Ability, but its {{a|Wonder Guard}} Ability gives it immunity to Ground-type moves. However, Shedinja is still affected by the effects of Arena Trap, {{m|Spikes}}, and {{m|Toxic Spikes}}.

* Despite the fact that its [[Generation IV]], [[Generation V]] and [[Generation VI]] descriptions state that Levitate gives immunity to all {{type|Ground}} moves, Pokémon with Levitate are affected by {{m|Sand Attack}}.

* {{p|Bronzor}} and {{p|Bronzong}} are the only Pokémon that can naturally have this Ability that also have {{a|Heatproof|a secondary Ability}}.

* {{p|Gengar}}, {{p|Vibrava}}, {{p|Eelektrik}}, and {{p|Eelektross}}, despite having this Ability, land on the ground when sent out of their Poké Balls. All others with this Ability float without touching the ground.

** However, from [[Generation VI]] onwards, this only applies to Gengar.
