Granbull (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Granbull seems to be based on a {{wp|mastiff}} dog such as the {{wp|American Bulldog}}, {{wp|Boxer (dog)|Boxer}}, or {{wp|Bullmastiff}} due to its powerful body, short muzzle, and floppy ears. Many of these breeds have been used as {{wp|guard dog}}s and {{wp|dog fighting|fighting dogs}}, which may explain Granbull's thick collar and wristband/shackle-like markings. Its intimidating appearance is reminiscent of various grotesque mythical creatures such as {{wp|goblin}}s and {{wp|orc}}s, while its {{pkmn|category}}, [[Fairy (Egg Group)|Egg Group]] and {{t|Fairy|type}} may reference the {{wp|Cù-sìth}}, a creature in {{wp|Celtic mythology}} whose name means ''dog fairy''.
