Flareon (Japanese: ブースター Booster) is a Fire Pokémon introduced in Generation I.
generation=1 |

footnotes=}}
It evolves from Eevee when exposed to a Fire Stone.
Flareon (Japanese: ブースター Booster) is a Fire-type Pokémon.

It is one of Eevee's final forms, the others being Vaporeon, Jolteon, Espeon, Umbreon, Leafeon, Glaceon, and Sylveon.

Biology
Biology
Physiology
Flareon is a mammalian, quadrupedal Pokémon covered in short, reddish-orange fur. It has long ears with black interiors, dark eyes, and a small black nose. There are three small toes and a yellow paw pad on each foot. Fluffy yellow fur forms a small tuft on its head, as well as its bushy tail and a mane around its chest and neck.
Flareon is the result of an Eevee being exposed to a Fire Stone. Out of all seven (so far) Eeveelutions, Flareon bears the closest resemblance to Eevee. Flareon's body is covered in red fur. Flareon has a large, bushy tail, fluffy collar and a tuft of fur on its head; all of which are yellow.
Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Flareon's body temperature is caused by its internal flame sac, and rises when it is excited. If its body gets too hot, it will fluff out the fur on its collar to cool down. Flareon stores and heats inhaled air in its flame sac, and then exhales it as fire with temperatures of around 3,100 °F (1,700 °C). Flareon's average body temperature is around 1,300-1,500 °F (700-800 °C), but it can reach 1,700 °F (900 °C). It is an omnivore that roasts either Berries or prey before consumption. Flareon has a curious personality, and is mostly found in List of Pokémon by habitat, rarely seen in the wilderness. As mentioned in Sleep, it is believed that Flareon is regulating its body temperature while sleeping. Due its fur releasing heat to help cool it down, Flareon is able to sleep comfortably.
Flareon can use most of the moves that Eevee is capable of using, but it can also shoot powerful flames that have been known to reach a maximum of 3,100 degrees Fahrenheit. Due to the fact that Flareon is fully evolved, it can learn either Hyper Beam or Giga Impact.

Behavior
Evolution
Habitat
Flareon evolves from Eevee.

Flareon are mainly found in hot places, but only rarely, as an Eevee needs to be exposed to a Fire Stone to evolve.

Diet
Trivia
Trivia
* Flareon is generally considered the least useful of the Eeveelutions, owing to its extremely poor movepool.
* In English, the category "Flame Pokémon" is shared by Charmeleon, Charizard, Flareon, Kantonian Moltres, and Infernape.
* Flareon has the highest Attack base stat of the Eeveelutions.
** In Japanese, Flareon has the category ほのおポケモン Honō Pokémon (Flame Pokémon), while the other four Pokémon share the category かえんポケモン Kaen Pokémon (Flame Pokémon).
* Flareon shares the same species name as Charmeleon and Charizard, Moltres, and Infernape. They are all known as Flame Pokémon.
* Flareon is the only Eeveelution with a type advantage against more than one other Eeveelution.
* Every single Pokédex entry for Flareon mentions its ability to cope or attack with high temperatures.
* In Scarlet and Violet, Flareon is the only Eeveelution that is not able to swim, so it stands on a platform when sent out in battle above water.
*The Glitch Trainer owns a seemingly non-glitched Flareon.
** Furthermore, prior to the Version 2.0.1 update, Flareon was unable to learn Flame Charge via TM.

Concept and development
Flareon was designed by Motofumi Fujiwara.

Origin
Origin
It has traits of foxes, dogs, rabbits, and cats.
Flareon's overall design has traits from multiple different mammal species. Its long ears, orange coloration and fluffy tail may derive from foxes such as the red fox, while its body shape and fluffy mane may be based on lions or certain cat breeds such as the Norwegian Forest cat and Maine Coon. It may also be inspired by certain rabbit breeds such as the Lionhead rabbit.

Name origin
Name origin
Flareon's name is derived from flare. Eon is Eevee's proto-type name, in which Flareon evolves from. Its Japanese name may refer to rocket boosters, which propel things by combustion of fuel.
Flareon may be a combination of flare and eon (an immeasurably long period of time, possibly referring to how long evolution takes naturally). Eon is a suffix all Eevee evolutions share and was Eevee's English prototype name.

Booster is literally booster, possibly referring to the Booster (rocketry).
