'''EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua''' (Japanese: ''ADV EX 1: Magma vs Aqua: Two Ambitions'') is the name given to an Expansion of cards and [[Theme Deck]]s for the [[Pokémon Trading Card Game]]. The set revolved around the theme of the opposing villainous groups [[Team Magma]] and [[Team Aqua]].

Prereleases were held on the weekends of 6th/7th and 13th/14th March 2004.

*EX Team Magma vs Team Aqua was the first set to feature dual-type Pokémon, another correlation to the games, as most Pokémon have a secondary type. A noteworthy point is that all dual-type Pokémon in this set have [[Darkness (TCG)|Darkness]] as their secondary type.

*The Japanese name for this set takes a leaf from the English version’s book by adding “EX” to the set title. The EX means this is an “extra” set, in that it deviates from releasing the rest of the [[Generation III]] characters and features “owners” Pokémon. Many people made the mistake in adding “EX” onto the names of the next expansions. It was originally thought that [[EX Team Rocket Returns (TCG)|Team Rocket Strikes Back]] would have the title “ADV EX2”, but the ADV prefix was abandoned after the release of [[EX Hidden Legends (TCG)|ADV 4: The Solved Seal]].

*Accompanying the Japanese set were Deck Kits, which contained two [[Half Deck]]s. These contained a lot of cards that were missing from the main set, and were added when the English version was produced. Nintendo used the same idea to produce the English EX Trainer Kits [[EX Trainer Kit (TCG)|#1]] and [[EX Trainer Kit 2 (TCG)|#2]].
