Donphan first made a brief appearance in the beginning of ''[[M01|Mewtwo Strikes Back]]'', under the ownership of [[Raymond]]. [[Generation I|At the time]], it was an unknown Pokémon.

In ''[[AG114|Date Expectations]]'', many Donphan were falling in love with a {{shiny}} {{DL|List of Shiny Pokémon in the anime|Donphan}}.

{{ho|Tyson}} used a Donphan during the [[Ever Grande Conference]] which first appeared in ''[[AG130|Chose It or Lose It!]]''. Donphan was used to battle against [[Ash's Swellow]] but was soon defeated.

In ''[[DP072|Pokémon Ranger and the Kidnapped Riolu! Part Two]]'', [[Kellyn]] had a Donphan smash through the cave-ins that were caused by an {{p|Aggron}} that belonged to [[J's client (DP071)|a client]] of {{pkmn|poacher|Pokémon Hunter}} [[J]].
