:::::To me it invalidates our goal to be a source of information. If we continue to be uncertain because we don't have solid fact then we end up cutting things everywhere. Can we confirm Ash was the one to catch Lapras? Do we know if May's Venusaur is the same? What about Lance's Gyarados? Should we be under the impression he found another Shiny Gyarados because they never stopped the episode to say its the same one? There have been cases where things have been wrong. Mimey is a recent example, as Ash has owned it since it showed up. The solution was to update with the new knowledge.
