Beginning Set (TCG)
The Beginning Set (Japanese: はじめてセット) and the Beginning Set for Girls (Japanese: はじめてセット ｆｏｒガール) are the second release of cards in the BW era of the trading card game. It is the first time that card releases have split products based on gender. The two sets were released on October 29th, 2010, followed by Deluxe (DX) versions of the sets which were released on November 20th, 2010. The sets contain three half decks, damage counters, a coin, a play mat, as well as how to play DVDs and manuals. The cards differ from the Beginning Set and the Beginning Set for Girls: the girls' set contains cards with a "cuter design."

The cards are divided both by set number for the Beginning Set and by colored silhouettes of the three starters of Generation V, which is the numbering system for the three half decks.
