The Plain Badge (Japanese: レギュラーバッジ Regular Badge) is the badge given by Whitney, the Gym Leader of Goldenrod Gym.

In the core series games

After the player defeats Whitney, she throws a temper tantrum and refuses to award the badge. Once the player talks to Lass BridgeGSC/CathyHGSS in the Goldenrod Gym, Whitney will finally award the Plain Bade to the player.

Effect

This badge allows the use of Strength to move boulders outside of battle.

It increases the Speed stat in battle. In Generation II only, it also increases the power of Normal-type moves. However, those effects do not apply to link battles.

Once this badge has been obtained, the player is able to receive the Squirt Bottle in the Goldenrod City Flower Shop.
