Buried Fossil (Japanese: なにかの化石 Some Fossil) is a Colorless-type Basic Pokémon card. It is part of the Skyridge set.

Card text

Evolves into Omanyte, Kabuto, Aerodactyl You may play a Pokémon card that evolves from Mysterious Fossil on top of Buried Fossil. (This counts as evolving Buried Fossil.) Buried Fossil can't be affected by Special Conditions.

Trivia

• This card is the only Pokémon card released outside Japan that isn't actually a Pokémon.
• The text stating that players can play a card that evolves from Mysterious Fossil led to a ruling deeming it permissible to evolve Buried Fossil into Aerodactyl ex from EX Sandstorm.
• The text explicitly stating the names Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl has led people to believe that this card can be used to evolve into the Omanyte, Kabuto, and Aerodactyl cards from Majestic Dawn despite the fact that those cards don't evolve from Mysterious Fossil. No ruling has been issued at this time concerning this issue.
