Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum exit the Oreburgh Gate and arrive in Oreburgh City. Platinum reads from the Town Map that Oreburgh City is a coal-mining town. Diamond and Pearl make a joke about this, then Platinum explains how coal is formed. Pearl thinks that Platinum can be an adequate guide. Platinum says that Oreburgh City's mines extend so far that they go beneath the sea. Suddenly a vent expels hot steam at them. Diamond gives Tru some water to stop its leaves from wilting, and offers some to Piplup, who turns its head away. Pearl explains that Piplup do not like being fed by others.

Platinum says that they should decide where to stay for the night and tells Diamond and Pearl to look for a good place. Pearl argues against this while Platinum explains that she wants to research routes to Mt. Coronet. Suddenly a bulldozer rolls down the hill, but Piplup blocks it with Bubble. Then a miner is seen loudly scolding his Psyduck, which is named "Yeller," for playing with the machines' controls. He apologizes to Diamond, Pearl, and Platinum. Platinum asks for a tour of the mines as repayment, hoping to dig for coals. Meanwhile she starts to pretend to dig, but when Pearl comments on this she denies it. The miner allows her to tour the mines. Pearl decides to find an inn to stay at, taking Diamond with him.

Later, Diamond and Pearl practice stand-up comedy at the Hotel Great Oreburgh. Afterwards, Diamond tells Pearl that he feels that they should have gone with Platinum into the mines, since she is prone to get into trouble.

Trivia

Errors

  • In the Chuang Yi version, when Diamond was noting Mr. Foreman's overuse of the words "well" and "My bad" he states that Mr. Foreman said "well" four times and "my bad" six times, he was correct about "my bad" but Mr. Foreman said "well" only three times.
  • In the Chuang Yi version, Diamond says "Starlies" and "Bidoofs" instead of Starly and Bidoof, respectively.
