Mega Evolution was removed from Pokemon Sword and Shield (and BDSP didn't give it back), but I have never seen a true reason why. Pokemon Showdown has the capabilities of including this and Z moves with Dyna(giganta)max in the same metagame so there's really no reason Nintendo shouldn't be able to do it.
