:Mew is almost always stated to be "believed by scientists" to be the ancestor of all Pokémon... it never says for a fact that it ''is''. Scientists (in real life) have been wrong before on many things... perhaps Mew being the ancestor of all Pokémon will some day just be an outdated theory. | |||
:As for Arceus as the "creator of the Universe"... it's Pokédex entries all either say "it has been said" or specifcally say that it's Sinnoh myth... they never say for certain that he is some sort of creator god. I personally think the whole thing is a stupid concept... why base an encyclopedia entry of an actual animal on some myth rather than true facts? (That's like me looking up "falcon" in an encyclopedia and finding all sorts of references to it being some sort of sun god, simply because it was one in ancient Egyptian belief). But that's how it is... interpret it however you want. Maybe this whole conflict was intentional so that fans could interpret it differently (like how other aspects of Pokémon are... such as the definition of "Pokémon master").
