I noticed that you reverted several of my edits regarding Ash's Unova Pokémon without giving a reason. The reason I changed the wording for those pages to begin with is that all of those Pokémon were caught after he obtained Oshawott, and the numbering on those pages imply that Oshawott himself was also "caught" rather than being given (i.e it's more accurate to say that Pignite was the third Pokémon in Unova he "obtained" rather than "caught"). | |||
In addition, plenty of other Pokémon belonging to main characters use the wording "acquired" or "obtained" on their pages, and some specifically make a point to distingush between Pokémon that were caught and Pokémon that weren't. (Dawn's Mamoswine is specifically referred to as her fourth caught Pokémon, despite being her sixth overall; the pages for Iris's Emolga/Dragonite call them her second and third caught Pokémon, ignoring Axew since he was given to her; Clemont's Luxray is referred to as his second Pokémon caught during his journey with Ash in Kalos, ignoring Chespin since it was given to him.) | |||
While you could just make the wording technically correct (calling Pignite the second Pokémon Ash caught in Unova rather than the third, and so on), I think it would be more inclusive to just say that they were acquired/obtained.
