Legendary giants: Difference between revisions

The Legendary titans have relatively concrete lore compared to other [[Legendary Pokémon]]. Long ago, Regigigas is said to have pulled the continents into place, and then created the titans in its image from various materials (an icy mountain, rocks, magma, pure electric energy, and crystallized dragon energy). Regigigas was apparently worshiped by ancient people at one point, as were the original three titans. Regigigas was later deemed too powerful and sealed away in the basement of the [[Snowpoint Temple]], while the three titans it created were spirited to the far-off [[Hoenn]] region and locked away in three stone structures, which were then sealed themselves. A message was left in braille to whomever would come to discover the [[Sealed Chamber]], whose only access was via an [[underwater]] cavern, in the hopes that one day the Pokémon could be {{pkmn2|Caught|tamed}}. Separately, {{p|Regieleki}} and {{p|Regidrago}} were sealed in the [[Crown Tundra]]'s [[Split-Decision Ruins]] to prevent them from causing any further destruction and terror.

In the Hoenn [[Generation III]] games and the remakes, the player must first unlock the tombs which hold the three titans by solving the puzzle in the [[Sealed Chamber]]. Only after doing this will they then be obtainable. Regirock is found in the [[Desert Ruins]] on {{rt|111|Hoenn}}. To encounter Regirock, the player must walk two steps to the right, two steps down and then use {{m|Strength}}{{sup/3|RuSa}}{{sup/6|ORAS}} or walk two steps to the left, then two steps down and use {{m|Rock Smash}}{{sup/3|E}}. Regice is found in the [[Island Cave]] on {{rt|105|Hoenn}}, and to encounter it, the player must wait two minutes in front of the sign{{sup/3|RuSa}}{{sup/6|ORAS}} or walk a counterclockwise lap around the walls of the cave{{sup/3|E}}. Registeel is found in the [[Ancient Tomb]] on {{rt|120|Hoenn}}, and it is necessary to go to the middle of the room and use {{m|Fly}}{{sup/3|RuSa}}{{sup/6|ORAS}} or {{m|Flash}}{{sup/3|E}} to open its cave.

The original three Legendary titans are only obtainable in [[Pokémon Platinum Version|Pokémon Platinum]] if the {{player}} has a [[fateful encounter]] {{p|Regigigas}} in their [[party]] and has entered the [[Hall of Fame]]. Regirock is present in the {{si|Rock Peak Ruins}} on [[Sinnoh Route 228|Route 228]], Regice is present in the {{si|Iceberg Ruins}} in [[Mount Coronet]], and Registeel is present in the {{si|Iron Ruins}} on [[Iron Island]]. In [[Pokémon Diamond and Pearl Versions|Pokémon Diamond, Pearl]], and Platinum, Regigigas can be encountered in the basement of [[Snowpoint Temple]] if the player has the other three titans in their party. In [[Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl]], Regigigas is again obtainable in Snowpoint Temple if the player has the other titans, though said other titans can now be encountered by using [[Discovery Slate]]s in [[Ramanas Park]]'s Discovery Room.

In [[Pokémon Black and White Versions 2|Pokémon Black 2 and White 2]], the original three Legendary titans are obtainable in the [[Underground Ruins]]. Normally, the door in the Underground Ruins leads to a chamber where none of the titans are found; however, if one of three special [[Key System|key]]s is activated, the door will instead lead to the chamber of the titan corresponding to that key. The Rock Peak Key for Regirock is obtained immediately after the player enters the [[Hall of Fame]]; after catching Regirock, the player will obtain either the Iron Key for Registeel{{sup/5|B2}} or the Iceberg Key for Regice{{sup/5|W2}}. The opposite version's key may be obtained by transferring it with [[Unova Link]] from a game that has it, allowing all three titans to be encountered in one game. Regigigas can be encountered in the lowest floor of [[Twist Mountain]] if the other three titans are all in the [[party]].

In [[Pokémon Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon]], each of the Legendary titans may be encountered in the [[Ultra Space Wilds]] by following a yellow [[Ultra Wormhole]] to the Cave World during the [[Ultra Warp Ride]]. Regigigas only appears here in Pokémon Ultra Moon, though the original three are obtainable in both versions.

The Legendary titans appear in [[The Crown Tundra]] in [[Pokémon Sword and Shield]]. They reside in ruins dotted about the [[Crown Tundra]], which cannot be entered until [[Legendary Clue 2]] is obtained. The original three each have individual ruins; however, {{p|Regieleki}} and {{p|Regidrago}} share the same ruin, in which the player must select one of the two to obtain. Each ruin's door is closed unless a certain requirement is met, hinted at in writing on the doors. These requirements are: having the first Pokémon in the [[party]] hold an [[Everstone]] for the [[Rock Peak Ruins (Galar)|Rock Peak Ruins]], where Regirock is encountered; having a {{p|Cryogonal}} be the [[walking Pokémon]] for the [[Iceberg Ruins (Galar)|Iceberg Ruins]], where Regice is encountered; whistling at the door for the [[Iron Ruins (Galar)|Iron Ruins]], where Registeel is encountered; and having Regirock, Regice, and Registeel be in the party for the [[Split-Decision Ruins]], where either Regieleki or Regidrago is encountered. The Split-Decision Ruins may only be entered after the titans of the other three ruins have been [[Caught Pokémon|caught]], even if the three were [[trade]]d or [[transfer]]red from another game. Inside each of the ruins, after the pattern on the floor has been lit up by running over it, interacting with the statue will cause the titan to appear; in the case of the Split-Decision Ruins, the player must mark the pattern corresponding to the titan of their choice, and after the titan is encountered, the tiles that were not part of its pattern are permanently dimmed, even if it was defeated or [[escape|fled]] from. If Regirock, Regice, Registeel, Regieleki, and Regidrago are all in the party, a usually dormant [[Pokémon Den]] in the [[Giant's Bed]] will activate, containing a [[Max Raid Battle]] without allies against a [[Dynamax]] {{p|Regigigas}}; notably, this Regigigas is [[level]] 100.

In [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Time and Explorers of Darkness|Explorers of Time, Darkness,]] & [[Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Explorers of Sky|Sky]], the [[Aegis Cave]] houses all three of the titans as well as Regigigas. The player's team must have the right [[Throwing item#Unown Stones|Unown stones]] that spell out each typing of the Pokémon (specifically, ICE, ROCK, and STEEL) in order to enter each titan's chamber. If the party does not have these stones, they must enter that titan's cave in order to collect more Unown stones. After beating all three Pokémon, the party immediately heads to Regigigas' Chamber to battle it.

The Legendary titans each appear as bosses in [[Colossal Forest]]. Regirock is the boss of Stage 1, Regice is the boss of Stage 2, and Registeel is the boss of Stage 3. Their trio master, Regigigas, is the boss of the subsequent stage, Stage 4.

The Legendary titans debuted in ''[[M08|Lucario and the Mystery of Mew]]'', guarding the [[Tree of Beginning]] from intruders. They each followed {{Ash}}, {{an|Brock}}, {{an|May}}, [[Max]], [[Kidd Summers|Kidd]], [[Jessie]], and [[James]] throughout the tunnel network beneath the Tree of Beginning. Once the intruders had all been consumed by the Tree, the Legendary titans retreated.

The Legendary titans made their main series debuts under the ownership of {{an|Brandon}}, each of which battled Ash's Pokémon throughout his journey to collect the [[Symbol]]s. When Ash had finally defeated Regice, he was awarded the Brave Symbol.

The Legendary titans, along with {{p|Regigigas}}, also appeared in ''[[DP129|Pillars of Friendship!]]''.

[[Project Mew]] acquired the three original titans during ''[[Pokémon Journeys: The Series]]''. In ''[[JN113|Chasing to the Finish!]]'', they were used to unseal the [[Split-Decision Ruins]] so that [[Goh]] and {{Gary}} could catch {{p|Regieleki}} and {{p|Regidrago}}, respectively, for their [[Field Research|Trial Mission]]. Once brought together, the five titans awakened a [[Dynamax]] Regigigas.

The Legendary titans make two major appearances and two cameo appearances in [[Pokémon Adventures]].

{{Steven}} and the [[Hoenn]] [[Elite Four]] unsealed the three titans in order to stop the effects of the clash between {{p|Kyogre}} and {{p|Groudon}} from spreading beyond [[Sootopolis City]]. After the clash was stopped, the titans rebelled against their controllers and later disappeared.

[[Brandon]] relocated the titans and caught all three of them. He later used them in his [[Battle Pyramid]] battle against {{adv|Emerald}}, who successfully beat all three of them, earning him the [[Symbol|Brave Symbol]].

It was revealed that [[Palmer]] had loaned the three titans from Brandon in order to awaken [[Reg]]igigas, who later joined {{adv|Diamond}}'s team.

[[Hop]], [[Bede]], and [[Marnie]] caught another set of the original titans at the [[Crown Tundra]]. Because this happened off-panel, it's unknown which of them caught which and what they did with them afterwards.

In ''[[DPA14|A Novel Test!!]]'', [[Candice]] was revealed to own all three members of the Legendary titans. They were later used to awaken {{TP|Hareta|Regigigas}}, which was caught by [[Hareta]].

The Legendary titans appeared in [[Pocket Monsters Diamond and Pearl: Regigigas Major Capture Operation!!]]. {{OBP|Kaito|RMCO}}, {{OBP|Yuki|RMCO}}, and [[Kento]] each owned one member of the trio. They were used to awaken {{p|Regigigas}}, which was caught by Kaito.

* In {{g|Colosseum}}, the puzzles needed to unlock the Legendary titans in {{game|Ruby and Sapphire|s}} are referenced in Battle Mode's Single Battle Mount Battle. The 90th Trainer, {{tc|Area Leader}} Axley, has a party consisting of Regirock, Regice, Registeel, {{p|Flygon}}, {{p|Relicanth}}, and {{p|Wailord}}. Flygon is included because it was the only species at the time that could learn {{m|Dig}}, {{m|Strength}}, and {{m|Fly}}, which are required for the [[Sealed Chamber]]'s second puzzle, the [[Desert Ruins]]' puzzle, and the [[Ancient Tomb]]'s puzzle respectively.

* When the titans are encountered in {{game|Platinum}}, {{game|Black and White|s|Pokémon Black 2 and White 2|2}}, and {{game|Sword and Shield|s|Pokémon Sword and Shield}}, a arranged version of the music used in {{3v2|Ruby|Sapphire|Emerald}} is played. This theme is also used for Regigigas in Black 2 and White 2.

* All of the original Legendary titans, as well as Regigigas, share a weakness to {{type|Fighting}} moves, making them the only [[Legendary trio]] to share a common weakness, but not a common type.

* The Legendary titans are the first [[Legendary trio]] to gain new members from a different generation.

* Because the Legendary titans can be encountered after defeating [[Cynthia]] but before acquiring [[National Pokédex]] in {{game|Platinum}}, it is the only occasion where Pokémon not included in the [[regional Pokédex]] can be encountered before the National Pokédex is unlocked in games with National Pokédex outside of {{pkmn|Omega Ruby and Alpha Sapphire}}, where such situation is common.
