Trivia

  • Much like Misty's guest appearance in The Princess and the Togepi and A Togepi Mirage, May makes a return.
  • An instrumental version of I Won't Lose! ~Haruka's Theme~ is used during the battle with Team Rocket. Pokémon Symphonic Medley is also used as background music.
    • On another note, I Won't Lose! ~Haruka's Theme~ was left in the dub as the background music for the first time.
  • Roman seems to be based on the Rich Boy trainer class while Kylie is based on the Lady trainer class.
  • Instead of Professor Oak's Pokémon lecture, the end of the episode featured a memorial to The Power of One. This is part of a countdown to Giratina and the Sky's Bouquet: Shaymin.
  • The dub's title is similar to the Japanese title, as, since both have the same words, A Full Course Tag Battle! and Tag Battle for a Full Course!. There appears to be no English phrase that this title references, making it the first episode since Pokémon Ranger - Deoxys Crisis! to simply be a translation of the Japanese title. This is not the first either, as Pokémon - I Choose You! had the same title in English and Japanese, as well as Clefairy and the Moon Stone.
  • May was surprised when Ash said that he would be entering the Wallace Cup.
  • Pikachu was the only Pokémon on Ash's party seen in this episode.
  • Ash makes a reference to his own battle against the combination of fire and water.
  • Though the battle called for consecutive moves, Piplup uses Whirlpool without a move from Blaziken.
  • In one instance, Kylie's Munchlax is seen using Giga Impact. Munchlax cannot learn this move, though Snorlax can.
  • It took only one episode for May to arrive at Valor Lakefront from Snowpoint City. However, the possible reason why it took only one episode to get there is because May took a ship to get there.

Errors

May with Ash's gloves on.
  • In two scenes, one of May's gloves are colored like Ash's gloves.

Dub edits

  • In one scene, Drifloon was colored pink, instead of the original purple. This scene was changed into normal purple in the dub.
