Rampardos (Japanese: ラムパルド Rampard) is a Rock Pokémon.
Rampardos (Japanese: ラムパルド Rampald) is a Rock Fossil Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

It evolves from Cranidos starting at level 30.
It evolves from Cranidos starting at level 30, after it is revived from a Skull Fossil.

Biology
Biology
Physiology
Rampardos is a large, dark-gray, dinosaur-like Pokémon resembling a Pachycephalosaurus. It has a pearl-like dome crowning its head, which obstructs its red eyes. It has blue stripes, one on its tail, and one on each of its knees and wrists. It has various spikes: one on each knee, two on the blue-collar on its neck, two short ones on its nose, and four on its head. Two of these head spikes are bigger than the other two.
Rampardos is a large, dark-gray dinosaur-like Pokémon which, like its predecessor Cranidos, is based upon a Pachycephalosaurus. Rampardos has a blue stripe on its tail and one blue stripe on each of its knees and wrists. Rampardos also has a spike on each knee. Rampardos has a blue collar on its neck with two spikes on it. Two of Rampardos's head spikes are bigger than the other two. Its red eyes are obstructed by its dome-shaped head. Two short spikes are on this Pokémon's nose.
Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Its strength lies within its fierce head-butting attacks. A charging Rampardos can knock down virtually anything with one hit. 100 million years ago, it lived in jungles, where it ruthlessly chased its prey while tearing down trees in its path. Rampardos has the personality of a brute. It enjoys barging into objects with its head to train its strength and reflexes. This resulted in its skull growing a foot thick and harder than steel, which prevents it from fainting if it crashes into anything, even another charging Rampardos. Long after its passing, ancient people would dig up its well-developed skull fossil and use it as a helmet. However, because its skull grew so thick, its brain became even smaller than that of Cranidos, leading to theories that its stupidity led to its extinction. Its fossils have been found near those of Bastiodon, suggesting that these two lived in the same habitat, likely as enemies. Very little was known about Rampardos's biology in ancient times. There were records of a Rampardos that escaped after being revived and evolved, destroying a skyscraper in the process.
Like its pre-evolution, Rampardos's strength lies within its fierce head-butting attacks. A charging Rampardos can knock down virtually anything with one hit.

Behavior
Evolution
Rampardos enjoy barging into objects with their heads to train their strength and reflexes.
Rampardos evolves from Cranidos.

Habitat
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data&rarr;Evolution data.)
Rampardos once lived in jungles, but has been extinct from the wild for 100 million years and only exists via being cloned from fossil samples.
<div style="float:center; display:flex; flex-flow:row wrap;">
Fossils from which Cranidos can be resurrected are only found in the Sinnoh region.

* Pokémon Mystery Dungeon: Gates to Infinity: Rampardos runs the Box Buster shop in Post Town, where he will break open the player's Treasure Boxes for 150 Poké. He reappears in Pokémon Super Mystery Dungeon and will imply that the Box Buster shop has been closed down. He can be recruited by the player after passing a letter between him and Cinccino. He is also connected with a Flygon.

Roark's Cranidos evolved into a Roark in Wild in the Streets. It battled against Ash in his rematch. During the battle, Rampardos defeated Ash's Aipom and his Pikachu. It was defeated by Ash's Turtwig. It returned in Ancient Family Matters! where it fought Byron's Bastiodon.

Trivia
Trivia
* Rampardos has the fourth highest maximum Attack stat in the game, surpassed only by Marowak holding Stat-enhancing item, Deoxys in Attack Forme, and Medicham (thanks to Pure Power, its ability).
* Rampardos has the highest base Attack stat of all Rock Pokémon.
** Going solely by base stats, Rampardos has the second highest base Attack of all Pokémon (second only to Attack Forme Deoxys), and the highest base Attack of all non-Legendary Pokémon.
* Rampardos and its pre-evolved form are the only Fossil Pokémon of a single type.
* It is the only pure Rock Pokémon able to learn Surf.
* Although Rampardos attacks primarily with its head, it could not learn Iron Head until Platinum, and cannot learn Skull Bash. It also can't have the ability Rock Head.
* Rampardos and its pre-evolution Cranidos are the only Fossil Pokémon that are not dual-typed.

Origin
Origin
Rampardos is based off on the group of dinosaurs including Pachycephalosaurus although the head ornamentation resembles that of Stygimoloch or the Dracorex because of its height.
Rampardos is based on the family of dinosaurs known as Pachycephalosauria. The head ornamentation resembles that of the Stygimoloch or the Dracorex because of its height.
It also appears to be based on the ultimate spear/unstoppable force, as opposed to its counterpart, Bastiodon, which appears to be based on the ultimate shield/immovable object.

Name origin
Name origin
Rampardos's name is a pun, combining the words "ram" (to slam into), "hard", and "rampart" (a type of fortress). Rampardos comes from the same etymology as the Japanese name; however, it adds on "dos", a common ending for dinosaur names.
Rampardos may be a combination of rampart (a defensive wall), ram (to slam into) or rampage and hard, as well as Cranidos.

Rampald may be a combination of rampart or ram and hard or bald.
