Kricketune (Japanese: コロトック Korotock) is a Bug Pokémon introduced in Generation IV.

Biology
Physiology
Kricketune is a bipedal Pokémon with an insectoid appearance. Primarily red, there are three black, oval markings on its abdomen, a tan streak running down its neck to its belly, and a tan underside with a small, dark red marking above it. It has oval, gray eyes, and a dark red, round nose. Black feelers with curled tips extend from either side of its nose, similar in appearance to a mustache. The male's feelers are longer than a female's. On top of its head are two antennae with conical bases, spherical centers, and long, thin tips. Kricketune has two small feet and a pair of black wings.
Kricketune is a mainly red cricket-like Pokémon that resembles both a conductor and a stringed instrument. It has gray-colored eyes, black feelers in the shape of a mustache, and a dark-red segment between the ‘mustache’. Kricketune has two small feet, black wings shaped like a conductor's cape, and scythes for hands. Its long antennae are shaped somewhat like scythes, and there are three black dots on its lower body with two beige stripes running down its neck to the centermost of the black dots. Below the centermost dot is a pattern with a dark-red upper section and beige lower section.

Gender differences
This Pokémon's arms are shaped similar to its antennae and are crossed over its chest when it cries. By rubbing its arms together, Kricketune can produce sounds and improvise melodies. It can also allow its cry to resonate in its belly. Kricketune's melodies vary greatly between individuals, and can be used to signal its emotions. Scientists have been observing the melodic patterns of Kricketune for studies. In one village, Kricketune are used in a contest based on the different sounds it makes.
A female has a shorter "mustache".

Special abilities
Evolution
It can make music by rubbing its arms together. It is also able to use its scythelike foreparts for attacks like Fury Cutter, Slash, and Night Slash.
Kricketune evolves from Kricketot

Behavior
(For specifics on this Pokémon's evolution in the games, refer to Game data→Evolution data.)
It signals its many emotions with the variable melodies it creates. It crosses its knifelike arms in front of its chest when it cries, and can compose melodies ad lib. Kricketune may produce sounds by allowing its cry to resonate in the hollow of its belly.

Major appearances
Nando's Kricketune
Nando owns a Kricketune, which debuted in Dawn's Early Night!. It was used in both Gym battles and Pokémon Contests, having helped Nando enter the Sinnoh Grand Festival and the Lily of the Valley Conference.

Minor appearances
Kricketune debuted in Getting the Pre-Contest Titters!, under the ownership of a Coordinator participating in the Floaroma Contest. It reappeared briefly in the next episode, where it was seen competing in the Contest.

In Zoroark: Master of Illusions, a Kricketot was living in Crown City. It worked together with the other Pokémon in surrounding Zorua to attack him, angry for what Zoroark did to the city. Before a fight could break out, the Kricketune, along with the other Pokémon, were calmed down by Celebi.

In Trade, Borrow, and Steal!, a Kricketune was part of Kricketina Kylie's Bug-type Pokémon collection, as shown in her Rotom Phone.

Trivia
Trivia
* Unlike most evolved Pokémon, except in the case of baby Pokémon, it is far more common in the wild than its pre-evolution. This is due to Kricketune being available at all times of day, while Kricketot is only found at night (as well as morning in Platinum).
* Since Generation VII, Kricketune has had the lowest base stat total of any fully evolved Pokémon with stats that are calculated through the traditional formula — Shedinja has a much lower base stat total, but this is due to its base HP of 1, which is not used in the calculation of its HP.

Origin
Origin
Kricketune appears to be based on a violin beetle, as well as crickets because they make sounds by rubbing their arms on their abdomen. Their body resembles string instruments. They are also based on music conductors, due to their mustache and their wings resembling capes.
Kricketune appears to be based on a Cricket (insect), which is widely known for its loud chirping songs used to attract females. Crickets use a form of stridulation to create noise, which they do by striking their forewings together, but this is often mistakenly believed to be done by rubbing their legs against their body, as Kricketune does. It also resembles a violin beetle, with an abdomen assuming the appearance of an actual violin or similar String instrument, and arms that function similarly to a Bow (music). Kricketune additionally resembles a typical depiction of a music conductor or maestro, due to its mustache, wings that look like a cape, and Kricketune's baton-like forelimbs.
