Luvdisc (Japanese: ラブカス Lovecus) is a Water Pokémon introduced in Generation III.
Luvdisc (Japanese: ラブカス Lovecus) is a Water Pokémon.

It is not known to evolve into or from any other Pokémon.

Biology
Biology
Physiology
Luvdisc is a fishlike Pokémon with a relatively flat body in the shape of a heart. It is primarily light pink, with pale lips and circular markings on its cheeks. Its body is covered in heart-shaped scales.
Luvdisc are pink fish Pokémon that are shaped much like a heart. Their lips and cheeks are a lighter shade of pink.
Gender differences
None.

Special abilities
Luvdisc lives in shallow tropical List of Pokémon by habitat, where it makes its nest in the branches of Corsola or coral reefs. During its breeding season, it forms groups that turn the ocean's surface bright pink. As shown in Luvdisc is a Many Splendored Thing!, when two Luvdisc kiss, they are able to use their slender bodies as wings in order to fly for short periods of time. If a Luvdisc is left alone, it becomes disheartened and open to attacks from predators, such as Pelipper.
Like most fish Pokémon, Luvdisc is much more maneuverable in the water than on land. It is also able to Confusion would-be attackers with Sweet Kiss and Attract. A Luvdisc can point in the direction of its mate, like a compass. When two Luvdisc kiss, they can bond together and flutter like wings.

Behavior
Luvdisc is seen as symbol of love and romance; loving couples gave this Pokémon its name after spotting it in the ocean waters. It is said that any couple who sees a Luvdisc will be blessed with eternal love, thus honeymoon hotels usually release this Pokémon into their pools. A tradition in some places is to gift a Luvdisc to a person someone loves. At one point in the past, Luvdisc was overfished due to a rumor that its scales would allow one to find their sweetheart.
Luvdisc is often seen in groups, where they either have competitions as to who can jump the highest or try to attract mates.
Habitat
Luvdisc live in nest made from Corsola branches. They live in warm or tropical seas.

NPC appearances
* Pokémon: Magikarp Jump: A Luvdisc may appear as part of the "Lost Luvdisc" Pokémon: Magikarp Jump, where it will give the player 4 Diamonds. Several Luvdisc also appear as part of the "Food Fever" event, swimming in and leaving food in the pond.

In the anime
Major appearances
Caserin and Luverin
Both Misty and Daisy have a Luvdisc, nicknamed Caserin and Luverin. They acquired the two Rendezvous Pokémon in Luvdisc is a Many Splendored Thing.

Other
Juan's Luvdisc was first seen in The Great Eight Fate!. It was also used in the following episode in the Gym battle against Ash.

Minor appearances
Many wild Luvdisc appeared in multiple scenes of Pokémon Ranger and the Temple of the Sea and at the beginning of Zoroark: Master of Illusions.

A few Luvdisc also appeared in Hold the Phione!.

Wallace has a Luvdisc nicknamed Elizabeth in Pokémon Adventures. She's usually shown out of her Poké Ball, floating along beside him. Wallace relies on her to solve problems, apparently, as she is shown doing such things as putting out a burning scarf and releasing a Lileep and Anorith to test Ruby's worth at Wallace's request. Also, the two seem to share a bond, as he rarely, if ever, has to specify what he wants her to do. Like all of Wallace's Pokémon in the manga, she is incredibly beautiful and was able to defeat all of Ruby's top contest Pokémon (excluding Mimi) in an unofficial contest in a matter of minutes.

Pokémon Adventures
Wallace has a Luvdisc nicknamed Elizabeth, which debuted in Short Shrift for Shiftry. She is usually shown outside of her Poké Ball, floating along beside him. Wallace relies on her to solve problems, as she is shown doing such things as putting out a burning scarf and releasing a Lileep and Anorith to test Ruby's worth at Wallace's request. Also, the two seem to share a bond, as he rarely, if ever, has to specify what he wants her to do. Like all of Wallace's Pokémon in the manga, she is incredibly beautiful and was able to defeat all of Ruby's top Contest Pokémon, excluding Feefee, in an unofficial Contest in a matter of minutes.

Wallace's mentor Juan uses a pair of Luvdisc that first appeared in With a Spoink in Your Step II. They observe him as he trained Ruby and Sapphire.

The Battle Tower rented a Luvdisc, which was stolen by Guile Hideout in The Final Battle VII.

Multiple Luvdisc appeared in Pink Slip.

Pokémon Journeys: The Series
A Luvdisc appeared in a fantasy in Legend? Check! Friends? Check!.

Pokémon Omega Ruby Crimson Passion and Pokémon Alpha Sapphire Indigo Wisdom
Some Luvdisc appeared while Alpha and Omega Dive underwater with their Wailmer.

Trivia
Trivia
* Luvdisc has no Egg Moves in Scarlet and Violet prior to Version 2.0.1. This was presumably unintentional, as it regained them in said version. The same situation occurred with Cacnea and Alolan Grimer.

*Due to their similar appearance and identical typing, it was speculated that Alomomola would evolve from Luvdisc upon Alomomola's introduction to the public.
*In Generation V, the circles on Luvdisc's cheeks have been changed from white to pink.
Origin
Origin
Luvdisc is based on the Discus (fish) and certain other species of fish that appear to kiss each other (such as the kissing gourami). It is shaped like a Heart (symbol). Its shiny colors may be a reference to having a heart of gold, which signifies a person or being completely without malice, whose nature is loving or caring.
