Tropius are large sauropod Pokémon with brown and green bodies. They possess large green leaves on their backs which they use for flight. These leaves also double for sugar production via photosynthesis, to give Tropius even more energy. Despite being very big and bulky, they are surprisingly maneuverable in the air. They have long necks which they use for reaching treetops to gorge on their most favoured food, fruit. They also grow fruit of their own on their necks that resemble a bunch of ripe bananas. These fruit can be picked and consumed by other Pokémon and by humans, and grow twice a year. Their feet have toenails the same color as their fruit.
Tropius is a large, sauropod-like Pokémon with a brown body wrapped in green leaves on its chest and head. It possesses large, broad green leaves on its back, which it uses for flight and for sugar production via photosynthesis. Despite being very big and bulky, it is surprisingly maneuverable in the air. It has a long neck with a thin black line around it. It uses its neck for reaching treetops to gorge on its most favored fruit. Since it ate only this kind of fruit continuously, the fruit began to grow around its neck. These yellow, banana-like fruits can be picked and consumed by other Pokémon or humans, and grow twice a year because of the rapid production of sugar in Tropius's leaves. Its feet have toenails the same color as its fruit.

Gender differences
In warm areas, there are ranches that raise Tropius. In Alola, its fruit is especially sweet compared to those of other regions. It lives in List of Pokémon by habitat. In the TCG, Tropius was shown existing before the time Fossil Pokémon went extinct.
None.

They can fly pretty well despite appearing ungainly in the air.

Trivia
*Tropius and Tangela are the only two Pokémon that are not starters or legendaries of a previous generation unavailable in Diamond and Pearl. They must be transferred forward from a Generation III game or traded from Platinum.
* Tropius shares its height (6'7"/2.0 m), weight (220.5 lbs./100.0 kg) and Egg Groups (Monster and Grass) with another Grass Pokémon, Venusaur.
*Tropius is the only Grass Pokémon that can learn Fly.
* Tropius was the first Pokémon to be distributed in a Cherish Ball, with the distribution.
**It is also considered to be a good HM slave as it can learn 5 HM moves -- Cut, Fly, Strength, Defog (Flash in Generation III), and Rock Smash.
* Tropius shares its category with the Bounsweet evolutionary family. They are all known as the Fruit Pokémon.
*Tropius and Carnivine are the only non-legendary Grass Pokémon that do not evolve from or into another Pokémon.
* Of all the Pokémon available in Generation IV, Tropius is the only one that is exclusive to Platinum, though it can also be obtained in HeartGold and SoulSilver via the Pokéwalker.
*Tropius is the exact same size as another Grass Pokémon, Venusaur. Both have a height of 6 feet 7 inches and a weight of 220.5 pounds.
*Tropius is one of the few Pokémon other than Ghost, Dragon Pokémon and dual-type that are weak to one of their own types. Others in that category include Aerodactyl and Lucario.
*Tropius shares some similarities with Absol:
**Both were introduced in Generation III.
**In Ruby and Sapphire, each were only found on one route, each route having heavy rainfall and their northern exit leading to Fortree City, each with a low appearance rate (Tropius is on Route 119 and Absol on Route 120).
**Neither one is involved in an evolutionary line.
**Both of their type combinations are fairly uncommon (Tropius shares its type combination with just the Hoppip Skiploom Jumpluff and Shaymin's Sky Forme, and Absol, Poochyena, Mightyena, Umbreon, and Darkrai are the only pure Dark-types).
**Both of them were made into Shadow Pokémon in Colosseum, at a level in the high forties (Tropius at 49 and Absol at 48), and both were found in Realgam Tower's colosseum.
**Both of them have a curved object or objects attached to their heads (Tropius has a bunch of banana-esque fruits hanging underneath, and Absol has a sickle on top of its head)
**Both of them had only one ability when first introduced in Generation III, but were given a second one in Generation IV, with the english name of the ability starting with the letter "S", and consisting of two words. Also, in both cases, this ability was exclusive to Tropius/Absol, and a two-member evolution family, where the lowest form was introduced in Generation II, where the type or types does not change, where at least one type is shared and where the usage of an evolution stone is required (Tropius, Sunkern, and Sunflora are the only Pokémon with Solar Power, all three are Grass, and Sunkern uses a Sun Stone to evolve into Sunflora. Likewise, Absol, Murkrow, and Honchkrow are the only Pokémon with Super Luck, all of them are Dark, and Murkrow uses a Dusk Stone to evolve into Honchkrow. Interestingly, Murkrow and Honchkrow are Flying and Sunkern and Sunflora are not, the opposite of Absol and Tropius's situation).
**Both are quadrupedal.

Origin
Origin
Tropius shares characteristics with the Brachiosaurus, a sauropod dinosaur from the late Jurassic period. There is also a legend that a creature known as Mokele mbembe, which is said to resemble a sauropod, lives on in the jungles of the Congo basin in Africa. Tropius also resembles a banana plant.
Tropius resembles a generic sauropoda, a clade of long-necked, herbivorous dinosaurs, combined with a banana plant. Its tropical characteristics and sauropod-like body may also be inspired by the Mokele-Mbembe, a cryptid creature said to live in the Congo River Basin, most often described as a sauropod.

Name origin
Name origin
Tropius's name is a combination of tropical and -saurus. It could also be a pun of 'tropism'. Phototropism happens when the plant needs more sunlight, and so turns to the available source of light. If a plant is planted the wrong way around, the roots will use geotropism to grow towards gravity and find water.
Tropius may be a combination of tropical and -saurus (common suffix in names of dinosaurs and extinct reptiles derived from the Ancient Greek word for lizard). It may also involve tropism (orientation of plants in response to a particular environmental stimulus).
