Breloom (Japanese: キノガッサ Kinogassa) is a dual-type Pokémon introduced in Generation III.

It evolves from Shroomish starting at level 23.

Biology
Physiology
Breloom is a bipedal, mushroom-like Pokémon with some kangaroo and dinosaur-like qualities. Most of its body is green, but its head to its neck and its tail are beige. On top of its head is a green, mushroom-like cap with beige gills underneath and a round, red berry-like growth with a hole in the middle on either side. It has oval, black eyes, a beak-like mouth, and frilled segments around the base of its neck. There are two red claws on each of its hands and feet. At the end of its tail, there are seed clusters made of hardened toxic spores that are horrible to eat.
In sharp contrast to the diminutive Shroomish, Breloom sports an agile shape, similar to a kangaroo or a theropod. It has a mushroom-like green "cap" on its head with visible gills and a round, somewhat Berry-like or oak gall-like portion on both sides. Breloom’s head, neck and tail are tan in coloration. Breloom’s mouth is somewhat beak-like in shape, and there is a petal-like arrangement of extensions from its shoulders. Breloom’s chest and lower body is green, and its feet have two red claws. Breloom has seed clusters made of hardened toxic spores on the end of its tail, which it uses to slam into its foe. Its arms appear to be short and of little use, but they can stretch surprisingly far to deliver punches. Its red foreclaws are ideal for Cut.

Gender differences
Breloom can stretch its short arms to deliver fast punches. Additionally, it has light, springy footwork that allows it to get close to opponents. Another way it closes in on opponents is by incapacitating them with spores released from the holes in its cap. Its technique is equal to that of professional boxers. It prefers to live in List of Pokémon by habitat, where it feeds on decomposing trees and plants.
None.

Special abilities
Prior to Generation V, Breloom and its pre-evolved form, Shroomish, were the only known Pokémon that could have Poison Heal as an Ability.
Breloom has toxic spores on its tail, which are horrible to eat. They are also physically very strong, much like most Fightings, and extremely fast. Some of its unique moves depends on these two factors; Sky Uppercut, and the other Mach Punch. In one of its Pokédex entries, it says that it has an excellent fighting technique that puts boxers to shame.

Behavior
Evolution
Breloom come in groups along with other Shroomish and partake in tasks for their survival like foraging for food and defending their kind from enemies and predators. Once threatened, Breloom will not hesitate to fight and will not cease until their enemies have been warded off or beaten. Breloom are formidable combatants in battle and will take on almost any Pokémon who poses as a threat to their kind, especially their young. Breloom’s fighting technique consists of closing in on its foe with light and sprightly footwork before punching with its stretchy arms. Breloom also scatters spores from holes in the mushroom cap on its head.
Breloom evolves from Shroomish.

Major appearances
|name2=Breloom
The first major role Breloom had was in A Shroomish Skirmish. Ash and ashfr were being attacked by Breloom that had evolved from Shroomish that were mad at them for stealing their food. May's newly evolved May took on the leader Breloom in a vicious hand to hand fight and suddenly declared a truce between them, saving the day.

Minor appearances
Breloom's first appearance was a cameo in the first Advanced Generation movie, Jirachi: Wish Maker. The Mushroom Pokémon was one of the residents of Forina, Jirachi's home.

Breloom had another cameo in Numero Uno Articuno as a Pokémon belonging to Factory Head.

A Breloom appeared in Pasta la Vista!, under the ownership of the Fighting Dojo.

A Breloom was battled by Ash and Pikachu during the tournament in Lucario and the Mystery of Mew.

Some Breloom made a cameo in the opening to Giratina and the Sky Warrior.

Breloom appeared in Zoroark: Master of Illusions as a few of the many local Pokémon who lives in Crown City. Two Breloom worked with the other Pokémon in surrounding Zorua to attack him, angry at Zorua for what Zoroark did to the city. Before a fight broke out, the Breloom, along with the other Pokémon, were calmed by Celebi.

Main series
Major appearances
Breloom made its main series debut in A Shroomish Skirmish, where they attacked Ash and ashfr after evolving from Shroomish because of TRT stealing their food. May's newly evolved May took on the leader Breloom in a vicious hand-to-hand fight and suddenly declared a truce between them, saving the day.

In Journey to the Unown!, Kenny used a Breloom in a battle against Ash's Turtwig. In Team Shocker!, it was used during the Solaceon Town Pokémon Contest. Breloom's performance in the Appeals Round advanced Kenny to the Contest Battles.

Trivia
Trivia
* Breloom has the highest Attack out of all Grass Pokémon.
* Breloom and its pre-evolved form share their category with Paras, Parasect, Foongus, and Amoonguss. They are all known as the Mushroom Pokémon.
* Despite being called the Mushroom Pokémon, and some Pokédex entries mentioning its spores, Breloom does not learn Spore via level-up. However, it can have the Ability Effect Spore.
** All six Pokémon also share a common move in Spore and Ability in Effect Spore.
** Its pre-evolution Shroomish does, however.
** In Pokémon GO, all of them are amongst the species that yield more Stardust than usual upon capture.
* Before Generation V, Breloom could learn False Swipe through breeding, but not by TM.
* In Generation IV, Breloom can learn False Swipe via breeding, but not via TM.
** Breloom can also learn False Swipe via the Shadow Shroomish in Pokémon XD, as it learns the move immediately after purification.
* In Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Breloom can learn Toxic via the Move Relearner, but not via TM.
* Before Generation V, Breloom was the only Fighting Pokémon in the List of Pokémon by color, until Virizion.
* Prior to Pokémon Brilliant Diamond and Shining Pearl, Breloom was unable to learn Spore, while its pre-evolution could.
* Breloom and its pre-evolved form, Shroomish, share their species name with Paras, Parasect, Foongus, and Amoonguss. They are all known as Mushroom Pokémon.
** It was also unable to learn Spore prior to Version 3.0.0 of Scarlet and Violet, although a Wild Tera Breloom with this move could be caught in West Province (Area Three).
** These are also the only Pokémon that can have the Ability Effect Spore other than as a Hidden Ability.

Origin
Origin
Breloom is based on a mushroom and its body structure resembles that of a kangaroo. The shapes of its head and tail resemble that of the armored dinosaurs, Pachycephalosaurus and Ankylosaurus, respectively.
Breloom seems to be based on a mushroom, specificially agaric types. The red nodules on its head resemble the berry-like arils on a Taxus baccata tree. The shape of its head is reminiscent of a Kasa (hat), traditional Japanese hats with wide brims. Some of these hats were worn by monks, samurais, and soldiers, which may explain Breloom's Fighting type. Its body structure resembles a kangaroo, so its Fighting type and boxing behavior could also be inspired by the boxing kangaroo. It may also be based on a dinosaur due to its claws, its dome-shape head resembling that of a pachycephalosaurus, its club-shaped tail resembling that of an ankylosaurus, and its pre-evolution Shroomish resembling a dinosaur egg.

Name origin
Name origin
Breloom may be a combination of umbrella and mushroom. In Latin, bellum means war, perhaps a nod to its Fighting type.
Breloom may be a combination of umbrella and mushroom. It may also incorporate brawl. Incidentally, Breloom is also an anagram of "bloomer".

Kinogassa may be a combination of kinoko (mushroom) and 傘 kasa (umbrella).
Kinogassa may be a combination of キノコ kinoko (mushroom) and 笠 Kasa (hat) (traditional Japanese hat) or 傘 kasa (umbrella). It may be derived from 衣笠茸 kinugasatake (Phallus indusiatus).
