'''Friede's Charizard''' (Japanese: '''フリードのリザードン''' ''Friede's Lizardon'') is [[Friede]]'s first known {{OBP|Pokémon|species}}. It is also used as a means of transportation for both Friede and [[Captain Pikachu]]. It's also co-leader of the Pokémon who belong to Friede's teammates and the group that live on the Brave Olivine.

{{p|Charizard}} was likely [[Friede]]'s [[starter Pokémon|first Pokémon]], as it knew its {{pkmn|Trainer}}'s childhood friend [[Orla]], his teacher [[Lucca]], and his mentor [[Ludlow]].

Charizard was first seen in ''[[HZ001|The Pendant That Starts It All: Part One]]'' when [[Friede]] came to [[Liko]]'s rescue after [[Amethio]] tried to get her pendant from her. Friede used Charizard in his battle against [[Amethio's Ceruledge]]. Charizard dodges Ceruledge's {{m|Psycho Cut}}, only for it to nearly hit Liko who was trying to escape sending her flying off the [[Indigo Academy]]'s roof. In the [[HZ002|next episode]], Charizard caught Liko and her {{TP|Liko|Sprigatito}} and flew them with Friede back to the [[Brave Olivine]] for safety. Using its {{m|Flamethrower}}, Charizard helped get the Brave Olivine moving, only for the Brave Olivine to come under attack from the [[Explorers]]. Once the Explorers boarded, Friede rode on Charizard to confront them in battle.

In ''[[HZ014|Fly! Wattrel!]]'', Charizard and Friede pursued [[Spinel]]'s {{p|Magneton}}, who was the cause behind the Brave Olivine's failure to reboot its system. They chased it all the way to [[Levincia]], where they were cornered in a dark alleyway by Magneton and {{p|Beheeyem}}. Despite getting outmatched at first by the combined efforts of Magneton and Beheeyem, Friede {{Tera}}stallized Charizard into a {{t|Dark}} type to fight off Beheeyem's {{m|Psychic}}, and ultimately forced them to retreat after firing off a {{m|Tera Blast}}.

In [[HZ022]], Charizard participated in a battle against Amethio's Ceruledge. This time, however, it struggled to keep up with Ceruledge's increased Speed due to the activation of its {{a|Weak Armor}} [[Ability]]. The battle was interrupted as Liko, Roy, and an injured Captain Pikachu passed by them in a minecart while being pursued by a {{rf|Galarian}} {{p|Moltres}} that had an Ancient Poké Ball. In the [[HZ023|next episode]], Charizard and Friede met up with them at the [[Motostoke]] [[Pokémon Center]] after they had managed to escape the [[Galar Mine]]. Later, Charizard was among the Pokémon that battled Moltres in order to calm it down, teaming up with Wattrel to help blow some of Liko's Sprigatito's aromatic {{m|Leafage}} to sooth the Legendary Pokémon. After Moltres was calmed down, the Legendary Pokémon returned to its Ancient Poké Ball.

In [[HZ024]], Charizard was sent out by Friede to confront the Explorers when they infiltrated the [[old castle]] where {{OBP|Diana|Horizons}} was living. In the [[HZ025|following episode]], Charizard faced off against Amethio's Ceruledge once again. Despite initially attacking more carefully and from a distance this time, Amethio tricked them into activating Ceruledge's Weak Armor Ability, which allowed it to land a flurry of {{m|Night Slash}}es. Seemingly overwhelmed and about to be hit by a Psycho Cut, Friede Terastallized Charizard into a Dark type, rendering the opposing attack useless, and finished off the battle with a single Tera Blast. After [[Sango]] set off her {{p|Glalie}}'s {{m|Self-Destruct}}, Friede and his Pokémon managed to barely escape the explosion and reunited with the Rising Volt Tacklers.

Charizard is shown to be a strong Pokémon, as seen in ''[[HZ001|The Pendant That Starts It All: Part One]]'' when it was used to battle [[Amethio's Ceruledge]]. Despite this, Charizard is shown to be friendly and playful with other Pokémon, as seen in ''[[HZ004|Found You, Fuecoco!]]'' when it used its tail so that {{TP|Roy|Fuecoco}} could jump over it. The friendship between Fuecoco and Charizard was shown again in ''[[HZ006|The Ancient Poké Ball]]'', where realizing how close Fuecoco had become to [[Roy]], Charizard gave Fuecoco a {{i|Poké Ball}} so that both could begin their journey.
