Victini (Pokémon): Difference between revisions

Victini is said to bring victory to the {{pkmn|Trainer}} that befriends it. It produces an infinite amount of energy within itself and can share it with others by touch. It can also become invisible. As shown in ''[[M14|White—Victini and Zekrom and Black—Victini and Reshiram]]'', it can send visions to people. It has been shown to enjoy eating {{wp|macaron}}s.

** Victini is the only Pokémon to be listed before the [[first partner Pokémon]] of its home region.

Victini's appearance seems to be based on うさぎリンゴ ''usagi-ringo'', a method of cutting apple slices to make them look similar to rabbits — this may ultimately be reference to "The Big Apple", one of the nicknames for {{wp|New York City}}, which the [[Unova]] [[region]] is based on. Conceptually, it might draw inspiration from {{wp|Nike (mythology)|Nike}}, the Greek goddess of victory; or her Roman equivalent, {{wp|Victoria (mythology)|Victoria}}. Its tail wings may be a reference to Nike's wings. Its Fire typing may draw from the concept of the {{wp|eternal flame}}, given the Pokédex describes it as having infinite energy and the eternal flame has been used to represent competition and victory, such as for the {{wp|Olympics}}. More specifically, given Victini's location on [[Liberty Garden]] (inspired by {{wp|Liberty Island}}), it could be a personification of the torch held by the {{wp|Statue of Liberty}}. The torch itself has a large number of symbolic associations and meanings.

Victini's "V" theme could be linked to it being introduced in [[Generation V]], "V" being the Roman numeral for 5. "V" could also be a reference to the {{wp|V sign}}.
