'''Flavor''' is a group of attributes that all {{Berries}}, [[Pokéblock]]s, [[Poffin]]s, and [[Apricorn]]s have.

There are five flavors: '''spicy''' (Japanese: '''{{tt|辛|から}}い''' ''spicy''), '''dry''' (Japanese: '''{{tt|渋|しぶ}}い''' ''astringent''), '''sweet''' (Japanese: '''{{tt|甘|あま}}い''' ''sweet''), '''bitter''' (Japanese: '''{{tt|苦|にが}}い''' ''bitter''), and '''sour''' (Japanese: '''{{tt|酸|す}}っぱい''' ''sour''). Each flavor represents a specific {{pkmn|Contest|contest}} [[Contest condition|condition]] and [[Pokéathlon]] [[performance]] stat, and is liked and disliked by different {{OBP|Pokémon|species}} depending on their [[Nature]]s. The flavor is also consistently liked or disliked depending on which stat is raised or lowered; for example, all Pokémon who like spicy flavors will have a Nature that raises their {{Stat|Attack}}, while those that dislike spicy flavors will all have a Nature that lowers their Attack. Every Pokémon will like and dislike a certain flavor unless their Nature is Hardy, Docile, Serious, Bashful, or Quirky, in which case they will have no preference. However, bitter [[herbal medicine]], as well as sweet [[Honey]] and the move {{m|Sweet Scent}}, ignore flavor preferences.

If a Pokémon consumes a {{cat|Berries that may cause confusion|Berry that may cause confusion}}, it will become {{status|confused}} if it dislikes the flavor. This is the only flavor-dependent mechanic to be retained in Generation V onward.
