Kotone (Japanese: コトネ Kotone) is a recurring character in the Pokémon anime who debuted in DP143.
Lyra (Japanese: コトネ Kotone) is a recurring character who appeared in the Pokémon anime. She is a Pokémon Trainer from New Bark Town and a traveling companion of Khoury.

Ash and friends first met Kotone when her Marill wandered off and they found it wedged in a wall. She introduced herself as a Trainer from Johto. She came to Sinnoh with her friend, Kazunari and his father in order to observe the Pokémon native to the region. Later she asks Dawn to participate in the Johto Festa. The two girls had a battle but Kotone lost and rewarded Dawn with an egg.
History
Pre-series
As a rookie Trainer, Lyra was given a Chikorita as her first partner Pokémon. Together, Lyra was able to challenge and defeat the Gym Leaders of Violet City and Azalea Town, thus receiving the Badges from those Gyms.

It is implied in DP144 that Kotone has an interest in Ash, though whether it's platonic or a tad romantic remains uncertain. She admires his bravery and wishes that Kazunari would act more like him. Kotone even asks Dawn if she and Ash are a couple though Dawn quickly denies it. In DP145, she attempted to pair Kazunari and Dawn together as a couple before eventually realizing she had feelings for the former.
Pokémon the Series: Diamond and Pearl
Lyra debuted in An Egg Scramble!. Ash and ashfr first met her when her Marill wandered off and they found it wedged in between two buildings. She introduced herself as a Trainer from Johto. She came to Sinnoh with her friend, Khoury and his father in order to observe the Pokémon residing in the region. Later, she asks Dawn to participate in the Johto Festival. The two girls had a battle, but Lyra lost and rewarded Dawn with an Egg. At the end of the episode, Lyra and Khoury joined Ash's group because the former wanted to watch the upcoming Lilypad Town Pokémon Contest in which Dawn would be participating.

In DP147, she and Kazunari had a tag battle against Ash and Dawn in the Suiren Colosseum. Kazunari was surprised when Kotone chose to go with Chikorita against Monferno and Dawn who are both Fires. But she had confidence in it. It proved to be a strong opponent but it eventually lost to Cyndaquil. Both Kotone and Kazunari lost the battle soon after.
In Gone With the Windworks!, Lyra's Lyra was lost inside the Valley Windworks. During the search, the group also got stuck in place, while trying to escape Lyra uses her Girafarig but to no avail. At the end of the day, the group finally managed to get out of the place and continued their journey to Lilypad Town.

Later they headed back to Johto with Kazunari's father. Kotone plans on challenging Whitney and Morty. Also, upon her request, Kazunari decided to become her traveling buddy. They promised Ash and Dawn that they would see them again.
In A Rivalry to Gible On!, Lyra and the others found a wild Gible, after the group decided who will capture it, Khoury managed the feat after several complications along the way.

In Dressed for Jess Success!, Lyra was finally able to watch the Lilypad Town Pokémon Contest. After Dawn's defeat in the Contest, Lyra joined the others to try to cheer her up.

Lyra last appeared in Bagged Then Tagged!, where she and Khoury had a Tag Battle against Ash and Dawn in the Lilypad Colosseum. Both Lyra and Khoury eventually lost the battle. Later, they went to the airport to meet with Khoury's father before going back to Johto. Then, Brock suggested that Lyra challenge Whitney and Morty. Also, upon her request, she asked Khoury to become her traveling companion and later, they promised Ash and Dawn that they would see them again.

Character
It is implied in Gone With the Windworks! that Lyra has an interest in Ash. She admires his bravery and wishes Khoury acted more like him. Lyra has even asked Dawn if she and Ash are a couple, though Dawn informed her that they are just friends. Perhaps Lyra was interested in Ash's spontaneity, something that Khoury lacks. In A Rivalry to Gible On!, Lyra attempted to pair Khoury and Dawn together as a couple, despite Dawn's refusal, before eventually realizing she had feelings for the former.

Chikorita's next appearance was in Bagged Then Tagged! where it was used in a Tag Battle alongside Khoury's Totodile against Ash's Monferno and Dawn's Cyndaquil.
