should it be noted that steel type is the only type in which an attack is introduced in every generation.  Bite was introduced in generation 1 but is a dark attack in every other generation.  A similar note is presented in the dark page about magnemite being introduced in generation 1 therefore a "steel" pokemon is introduced in every generation even though it wasn't around until gen II. -- D558 22:24, 17 August 2009 (UTC)

:ya but your question was "should it be noted that steel type is the only type in which an attack is introduced in every generation." and there are no steel-type moves in generation 1. bite was normal-type in generation 1, if that was the steel move you were thinking of... - Geomexis 11:09, 17 January 2010 (UTC)

Trivia - typing
Trivia - typing
In one of the pieces of trivia, it says, and I quote: Though Steel-type moves deal super-effective damage against both Ice- and Rock-type Pokémon, there has not yet been a Pokémon of that type combination..." What's that supposed to mean? Because if it means that Steel hasn't yet been a dual-type combination with Rock and Ice, then only half of that is right. Probopass is a dual-type Rock and Steel type. :i think they meant an ice/rock type... - Geomexis 11:10, 17 January 2010 (UTC)
Well Amarusu breaks this rule so it should be removed now, unless we can't since there is speculation that the Steel is getting some changes(?) --<span style="font-family:Tahoma;background:black"><font color="red">Land</font><span style="font-family:Tahoma;background:black"><small><font color="yellow">fish7</font></small></span></span> 20:07, 11 September 2013 (UTC)

As the Subeject says The type Dark and Steel type was introduced in Generation II. this content was missing i also wrote this on the Type Dark talk page  --Darkmtbg2 17:02, 10 April 2012 (UTC)

mawile should still be in the pure steel column there should just be a thing saying "Gen III-V" like there is for jigglypuff, marill and gardevoir. 0danmaster0 (talk) 20:13, 8 August 2013 (UTC)

Counting Mega-Evolutions as different Pokémon
I've said this on other "type" talk pages but I'll say it again here, because it affects this page and I want people to be aware of this. There's way too much inconsistency when throwing Mega-Evolutions among ordinary Pokémon in the type listings; for example here Aggron is listed twice because its Mega has a different type, but Mawile is listed only once. Even though its type doesn't change, I don't feel this amount of inconsistency is acceptable. Personally, I think the absolute BEST way to go about this is to have a different list for Mega-Evolutions, and I mean exactly like how the Pokéstar Studios Pokémon are separated there. That way all Megas (which are a temporary type-shift, I may add) are represented equally and still earn a place on the page. Who agrees with me? --<span style="color:#6900FF"><b>KiANGLO</b></span> (<span style="color:#cc00aa">TALK</span>) 01:22, 5 November 2013 (UTC)
Water and Electric types
Yesterday, I saw Relicant involved in an edit war reverting my edit and Pumpkinking's edit, I contacted an admin and that piece of trivia is notable (and Water and Electric also resists Steel), could someone add it back? --<span style="color:pink">Cinday123</span> <small>(<span style="color:lightblue">Talk</span>)</small> 07:59, 28 February 2014 (UTC)
The trivia about double battles...
It states that steel type was the only type without a move that functions differently in double battles. Isn't that also true for fighting and dragon types? sumwun (talk) 02:05, 18 February 2016 (UTC)

Cram-o-matic
Is this really necessary? These items are just categorized by Pokemon type, but it has no real connection with that type except maybe thematic. It will also be irrelevant in the next game so I would suggest just mentioning it in the "item" section instead of making whole table just for these items.--<span style="color:#CC0000">Rocket</span> <span style="color:#666666">Grunt</span> 22:44, 15 January 2021 (UTC)
:I thought it was interesting to show items which have officially been related to the type. Dividing it into a subsection was meant to separate them from items with an explicit relation to the type and to preemptively show that the information will probably be less important in games that don't have the Cram-o-matic.--<span style="color:#0000FF">Mister</span><span style="color:#008000">E</span><span style="color:#800080">13</span> 16:37, 19 January 2021 (UTC)
Steven specialist?
Now I have a doubt... is Steven actually a specialist?
He say Steel is his favourite type... but there is any anything that actually state he is Steel SPECIALIST and not that is just his favourite type? Because he have more non-Steel then Steel (even couting Masters):
*Steel: Skarmory, Aggron, Metagross, Excadrill, Forretress, Alolan Sandslash (if counting Masters) (5 or 6)
*no-Steel: Claydol, Cradily, Armaldo, Archeops, Aerodactyl, Carbink, Rayquaza (if counting Masters) (6 or 7)
Because I'm not completly sure if he can be considered as one...--Zarxiel94 (talk) 06:52, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
:Oh, I was forgetting, in Masters, there is a dialogue between Steven, Thorton and Raihan, and there Steven say that Steel is just his favourite type, and seems to consider himself like Torthon (and he is not a specialist for sure)--Zarxiel94 (talk) 07:00, 26 August 2021 (UTC)
::Didn't get why my edit was just cancelled... If he is indeed a Steel specialist, then... there is a source? or is just an headcanon because he just said "Steel is my favourite type" that don't mean is his specialism. Differently from others specialists that didn't had enought Pokémon, not only Steven had others options in his games (Mawile, Magneton), but he didn't even got a lot of Steels in later games, like B2W2 and ORAS. For exemple. Agatha or Lance actually run out of Pokémon, but in later games they had more Pokémon fitting for their specialism. Agatha got Misdreavus in FRLG and Alolan Marowak in LGPE, while Lance got a lot of more Dragons in later games. In the PWT he even got a full Dragon team. This not only never happened for Steven, but (not counting Masters) he not only have more no-Steel then Steel, but the most aboundant type he got until now is Rock with a total of 6 species, while Steel had 5 species:
*Steel: Metagross, Aggron, Skarmory, Excadrill, Forretress
*Rock: Cradily, Armaldo, Aggron, Archeops, Aerodactyl, Carbink
*others: Claydol
::he look like to be a no-specialist trainer with a team more based about his passion for rocks, minerals and fossils, not a Steel specialist.

In one of the pieces of trivia, it says, and I quote: Though Steel-type moves deal super-effective damage against both Ice- and Rock-type Pokémon, there has not yet been a Pokémon of that type combination..." ::Again, if there is a official source that state he is Steel specialist, and not only "Steel is my favourite type" because that don't necessarly mean he is a specialist. If for exemple N say Ghost is his favourite type despite he don't have any Ghost-type, don't mean he is a Ghost specialist. Are two different things. If I'm unaware of a source where is stated he is a Steel specialist, then I will accept it. But please, just don't cancel my edit and completly ignore what I'm saying. Because would look like you are pretending to Steven being a specialist without any actual source of that... but seriously... saying a character that have not only more no-Steel type and Steel-type, but that have even a larger numbers of Pokémon of another type even when he appeared in a lot of generations (including B2W2 where is present the PWT) is incredbly dumb--Zarxiel94 (talk) 16:54, 31 August 2021 (UTC)
