The Japanese version of this card was originally one of the {{TCG|Vending Machine cards}} in Japan and later reprinted in {{TCG|Pokémon Web}}. The Gym Challenge print is the only appearance of this card outside Japan.
This card was first released as a Trainer card with artwork by [[Hikaru Koike]] as part of the Japanese {{TCG|Extended Sheet 2}} of the {{TCG|Vending Machine cards}}. It was later reprinted in the {{TCG|Guren Town Gym}} deck and in the {{TCG|Pokémon Web}} expansion. It was printed in the English {{TCG|Gym Challenge}} expansion.
 
Max Revive was later included as an {{TCG|Item card}} with a completely different effect and new artwork by [[5ban Graphics]] in the English {{TCG|XY}} expansion, first released in the Japanese {{TCG|Collection X}}. It was reprinted in Japan as part of the {{TCG|M Master Deck Build Box Power Style}} and {{TCG|M Master Deck Build Box Speed Style}}, released August 7, 2015, and later in the English {{TCG|Generations}} expansion and Japanese {{TCG|BREAK Starter Pack}}. An unnumbered XY-P Promotional print was 1 of 9 cards available in special packs sent to official Event Organizers in Japan starting July 2016. This print features the Event Organizer logo in the bottom right corner of the illustration.
