:I know the previous post was a LONG time ago, but no one responded so I wanted to add to it. I don't buy it lol. Having a formula makes it look all professional and convincing but it is obviously wrong. In Pokemon FireRed you get an encounter about 1/15 of the time you step on a tall grass tile and in Black and White it is like 1/3 or 1/5 on the high end. Obviously they don't all use the same formula. Additionally, if you run away from a fight then you will get another encounter sooner. I know some people say this is a self fulfilling prophecy and not reality but it is, test it. It also SEEMS LIKE you get encounters sooner when riding a bike. Basically I am just saying that simple formula doesn't encompass accurate encounter rates given the different ways it can be effected. :CORRECTION: I tested the bike thing and riding your bike through tall grass DEFINITELY makes you get more encounters (not time wise, number of 'steps' wise). Degrelecence (talk) 17:22, 7 July 2013 (UTC)

::In HGSS it is explicitly mentioned that wild Pokémon appear more frequently when you run. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 15:19, 23 August 2013 (UTC)
:I would also like to know this information. Digging around on the web has turned up nothing. No one seems to have any idea of how this works. Is there any source that adequately explains rates of encounter? --Ketsuban00 (talk) 05:25, 11 August 2014 (UTC)

seems to explain why Pokémon appear in tall grass. Should this not be added to the page?--ShinyPatch (talk) 15:17, 23 August 2013 (UTC)

What?????????????????
When browsing the page, I saw this:
"In Generation I and Generation II, using Cut causes a map tile composed of four walkable tiles of tall grass to be cut down directly in front of the player. In Generation III, this instead erases a 3×3 area around the player. In Generation II, long grass, such as that in the National Park, would be cut down gradually, while in Generation III, it is instantaneous. From Generation IV onwards, Cut has no effect on tall grass."
What does that mean? --HoennLove200 (talk) 14:49, 31 December 2014 (UTC)

Grass sprites for Gen VI games
There is one grass sprite for X and Y, but the grass sprites from ORAS are not on here yet. Can someone put those online, or is there difficulty with screenshots/sprite pixelart? --[[User: CWallace |<span style="font-family:Georgia;color: CC0033">C. :People who have the ability to do screencaps of a 3DS are in high demand but low supply. Someone who can do it will probably get to it eventually. --Abcboy (talk) 02:16, 23 February 2015 (UTC)
::I've been having trouble uploading content, it says that one must contact an admin on the archives before uploading Gen VI material, but I'm not sure how I can upload content at all.  --[[User: CWallace |<span style="font-family:Georgia;color: CC0033">C. == Rarity ==
Is it possible to find out which pokémon are classified as very common, common, semi-rare, rare and very rare?
I'm talking table:
Encounter rarity x
Very common 10
Common 8.5
Semi-rare 6.75
Rare 3.33
Very rare 1.25
I'm planning to do a school project on this and I need to know if and where I can find out which pokémon fall under which category for pokémon xy.
