Motion to change the type images back into words. Two reasons: one, it can't be searched or sorted properly, two, it doesn't add anything, and if anything is worse - images don't scale, so that's bad for people who need large fonts to read comfortably, these images aren't particularly high contrast, and, screen readers (i.e. programs that read what's on screen) can't read images. - 振霖T 17:53, 3 March 2007 (UTC)

:::Yep, it was simply a glitch from the Generation I games and since it is not a real Pokémon it should be removed from the Pokédex list immediately which I did today without hesitation. -Tyler53841 04:11, 16 August 2009 (UTC)

Since Johto has its own page... two of them, really... ought not the Kdex have its own page? No one wants to load up this whole monster when trying to find something they need in FRLG or RGBY... :I agree since I have been putting some thought into as well and that while this is the official number system it would be beautiful to have a separate page for the Kanto entries as a sign of respect and it could have a something saying of how it stood as the basis for future generations as well. -Tyler53841 22:56, 11 September 2009 (UTC)

Number of starters
According to the other generations, the grass starter gets the first number in the pokedex, the fire starter, the fourth, and the water one, the seventh. We should put #494, #497 and #500 respectively, yeah, their names aren't a sure thing, but I can tell that numbers are. --Masatoshi 16:45, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
:It is not confirmed.  Considering all the hints that the new region will be in a new country completely, it isn't even a sure thing that they will have the same National dex. <span style="border: 2px dotted #FFBBDD;"><span style="color:#FF99CC;">梅子</span><span style="color:#FF99CC;">❀</span><span style="color:#FF99CC;">✿</span></span> 16:50, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
::Well, it's not confirmed, but... why should they change something they've been using since Gen I onwards? They always started their regional dex with numbers 001-004-007, I don't see a reason of why they should change that. Masatoshi 16:53, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

::::That's not related at all at numbering Pokémon, even if they'd do that, it wouldn't be that much of a change :/. Masatoshi 16:57, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
:::::You asked why they would change something that has been a consistent pattern in previous generations.  I answered.
:::::And yet again, the new region is highly implied to be in a different nation altogether.  If this is the case, why would they use the national dex of another country?  The Pokemon this generation might not ever have canon numbers in the National Pokedex that we have used up until now. <span style="border: 2px dotted #FFBBDD;"><span style="color:#FF99CC;">梅子</span><span style="color:#FF99CC;">❀</span><span style="color:#FF99CC;">✿</span></span> 17:00, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
:::::: Let's just stick to what we know for now.  We don't know for sure what the numbering is (even though we can have a guess), and as far as I'm aware, speculation is frowned upon in Bulbapedia articles. ~ Serial Colour 17:01, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
:::::::Fair enough, although I still think that even though it's a new region, they'd be using National Dex later in the game, but that's right, speculation is frowned upon, so, nevermind. Masatoshi 17:05, 12 May 2010 (UTC)

List of Pokédex
Ok, I've noticed this recently, but... why do we have two columns called NDex (not in Kanto)? Change the first column into its respective region dex, or, change KDex into the second column, and put JDex, HDex, SDex and Unnumbered Dex into the second column in order to have them properly sorted. Masatoshi 16:51, 12 May 2010 (UTC)
:I just noticed this too. By now the headers in the first column have been changed to their respective regional dex, but the numbers in that column haven't been changed to match. Could an admin or someone who can edit the page get on this? --AndyPKMN 14:31, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
::After analyzing this I can say it is simple to update the redirect and place the the Ndex on the table in the New Pokédex Number listing, but an administrators assistance is necessary for updating this page since it is locked down which is obvious due to the new Gen. V Pokémon. -Tyler53841 16:43, 19 May 2010 (UTC)
:::Well the mission is over, so now at least I was able to help deal with this debate. -Tyler53841 16:43, 20 May 2010 (UTC)
::::Wait, wait, wait. What do you mean "over"? The problem I cited hasn't been tended to at all. We still have two columns to the left, identical in all but name. We need an admin to update the regional dex columns to have the numbers actually mean what they're supposed to. --AndyPKMN 13:43, 21 May 2010 (UTC)
:::::Unfortunately the Ndex is meant to stand for National Pokedex and though it was changed for a while it was changed back and I was made aware of it though I felt bad for asking the administrator The dark lord trombonatorto help with the change, so I wish that all of us drop this subject immediately since this in the end was a foolish mistake and if you read this message AndyPKMN make sure to remember the Ndexs' true meaning. -Tyler53841 01:56, 22 May 2010 (UTC)

High Quality .gif Sprites (Fully Animated)
Recently, I was looking for fully animated sprites of all 649 Pokemon and their shiny forms (front & back) along with their sprites as shown in the Party Pokémon Menu in Black and White. While Seraching for these images, I stumbled upon two very good sites. Here are their URLs: (No pop-ups for either page, but some ads do exist.)
Page 1: http://dialgafans.pytalhost.de/ for Gen. V Battle Sprites
1.) For this site, the shiny sprite is on the bottom of each Pokémon's sprite group and the regular sprites are on the top half of their sprite group. Pokémon are shown 50 at a time. Sprites for the front of a Pokémon are shown on the left half of their sprite group, and sprites for the back of the Pokémon are shown at the right half of their sprite group. Just be aware that not all sprites are fully animated, but most are. This site is only for sprites of Pokémon during a battle sequence, such as a battle against a wild Pokémon. This also has ALL forms of each Pokémon as well (Most of them are fully animated). For example, all of Arceus's forms are here (shiny and normal).
Page 2: http://www.upnetwork.net/fb/sprites/sprites1.html for Gen. V Menu Sprites
2.) For this site, There ARE Shiny Sprites! Please be aware that these sprites are sorted by Generation (001-151, 152-251, 252-386, 387-493, and 494-649). All Pokémon from each generation are shown in each section. These sprites are shown in the "POKéMON" Menu in Black and White Versions, along with the PC Boxes and the "POKéMON" Menu during battles. This does not have different animation speeds or effects, though. Also be aware that Normal Sprites are shown on the top half of the page, and shiny sprites are shown on the bottom half of the page. Just beware: In Pokémon Black and White Versions, and all other Pokémon Main Series Games, there aren't any shiny sprites of this kind! I would advise that you would use sprites ONLY from the TOP HALF of the page! This also has ALL forms of each Pokémon as well. For example, all of Arceus's forms are here (shiny and normal). This page also has the normal and shiny sprites for Missingno.
Please give these pages a quick view, as it would be very nice to see these sprites on Bulbapedia. Maybe not tomorrow, but someday, it would be great so see these on Bulbapedia.
Things to be Aware of:
1.) <span style="color:#ff0000">These sites only cover SPRITES, not a Pokémon's cry. You can find those elsewhere. (http://pokemon.marriland.com/black_white/pokedex is a good source.)</span>
2.) <span style="color:#ff0000">Some sprites may not load properly in some browsers. If this does occcur, try changing the browser you use to view the page or update your browser if possible.</span>
3.) <span style="color:#ff0000">I can already guarantee that if you are usng Internet Explor Version 8.0.6001.18702 on a Windows XP Home Edition with Service Pack 2 to view the 2nd link, the shiny Unova Pokémon (#494-649) WILL NOT show up. This may be because they haven't been created yet or it could be a browser or system error. Please be aware of that.</span>
4.) <span style="color:#ff0000">If you try to view the 1st site using the same computer and browser settings as previously stated above, many sprites on all pages WILL NOT load. It doesn't matter which page you are viewing; most of them still won't show up. I have tried to view these two pages on a Windows 7 PC and they DID load, so it's most likely a browser or system error. Please be aware of that.</span>
<span style="color:#ff0000"><u>DO NOT UPLOAD ANY OF THESE SPRITES OR CRIES TO THE BULBAGARDEN ARCHIVES OR BULBAPEDIA WITHOUT PERMISSION FROM THE SOURCE AND FROM A STAFF MEMBER FIRST!!!!!</u></span>
Hope you enjoy these sprites as much as I do!

:I have no idea why the Black and White animations have not been uploaded, but you will likely need to get Admin approval first before uploading any. As for the shiny menusprites, they are fake, so they probably can't be used, although we could use the shiny Celebi sprite for pages relating to the one in Mystery Dungeon, since we use a fake sprite for Red Gyarados. <small><span style="color:white; background-color:#007FFF">X</span><span style="color:#007FFF; background-color:white">Vuvuzela2010</span><span style="color:white; background-color:#007FFF">X</span></small> 03:24, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
::I know the shiny menusprites are fake, but it would be really cool if the actual menusprites for shinies were the shiny coloring. By the way, did you check out both pages? They're really cool. <span style="color:orange">Pikachu</span><span style="color:blue">9000</span> 13:57, 21 July 2011 (UTC)
:::We already have all the menu sprites, and don't want the Shiny fan-made ones. Also, the non-Shiny ones look miscolored; for example, Charmander is much to pale, while Ditto is pink rather than purple. As for the animated sprites, while we do want animated battle sprites, all of them seem to be going too fast (on both Chrome and Firefox, more so on Chrome, but that may just be because Firefox lags). --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 08:38, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
::::Viewing the animated sprites in Internet Explorer Version 8 or 9 works well. Not sure about IE Version 7 though. But the main point is that in the latest versions of Internet Explorer, the battle sprites seem to work fine. <span style="color:orange">Pikachu</span><span style="color:blue">9000</span> 20:45, 27 July 2011 (UTC)
:::::Well, I blew the dust off of Internet Explorer, and using my IE6, they were too fast as well. I considered upgrading to IE8 just to test this, but I'm never going to use it and I would have had to restart my computer. Thing is, we mainly cater for pretty much every browser except IE (primarily Firefox, secondarily Chrome, Safari, and Opera), and if something works in IE but no other browsers, something is very wrong with it. Try encountering one of the Pokémon on your Black or White game, and opening that page. Count how long it takes to complete one cycle. I used Metapod, and the images on that page are much too fast. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 09:39, 28 July 2011 (UTC)
::::::Hmm. I see. I'll try  viewing the sprites on my Windows 2000 Professional computer. Since It has IE 6 or something like that, I'll see if you're right about your observation. But if the sprites are the right speed, then I guess your computer has a graphics problem or something. My Windows XP has a NVIDIA GeForce 8400 GS Graphics Card Version 191.07 in it so that may be why they look so good on the computer I'm using right now. My Windows 7 laptop (currently at the repair shops) has an Intel(R)Core(TM)2 Duo SU7300 (1.30GHz, 800MHz FSB) Processor w/ a 512MB ATI Mobility Radeon(TM) HD 4550 Graphics Card in it, and it uses IE 9, so that may also be why the icons look so good. Maybe it could be a graphics problem with your computer or something. Although, it could be due to an obsolete graphics card in your computer. :I just tested on my computer, and the sprites were slightly fast (animation wise. The cycle also seems to be a bit truncated) in Firefox 5.0 and very fast (ditto) in IE 7. == Redundant Entries ==
Why do Pokémon like Rotom, Unfezant and a few others have multiple entries on this list? This is a list of Pokémon by National Pokédex number, not a list of mini sprites. Their form differences are listed on their specific pages, so maybe we could just use the basic, male sprite on here? Perlgia 22:14, 15 January 2012 (UTC)
:I completely agree with this suggestion. --<span style="color:#A70000">Snorlax</span><span style="color:#0000A7">Monster</span> 15:32, 16 January 2012 (UTC)
::Totally agreed. I don't see the logic in including extra rows for the alternate formes of some Pokémon (ie: Giratina) but not for others (ie: Unown). It's rather inconsistent. Moreover, it's disconcerting to see some Pokémon listed multiple times, as when looking at the table, one expects each row to belong to a different Pokémon. I think we should list each Pokémon once, regardless of whether it has alternate formes. - Ericss 05:04, 1 March 2012 (UTC)

On the subject of this, the new formes for Kyurem, Keldeo and the Genies need to be put on the list. Imo gender differences are redundant and make no difference to the Pokémon and definately shouldn't be included. For people using the lists for their own purposes, it is useful to have all the different formes because, in the competitive world, different formes are completely different Pokémon, with different stats or different types.Lucky V4.0 (talk) 09:20, 18 July 2012 (UTC)
