Is this like.. a user place where you can type whatever you want?

No. A user talk page is for other users to tell you bulbapedia-related stuff. See here for more information. Also, sign your comments with four tildes (~~~~). Finally...
Welcome to Bulbapedia, ThexFoondom!

By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

I'm afraid I need some help?

I'm obviously new to this and I don't understand a magikarp about this. o.o How do I reply to things on a talk? And can I see why my edits are undone? And by being "added to the encyclopedia", does that mean being staff? Also, what is the main site (bulbagarden.net) used for?- unsigned comment from ThexFoondom (talkcontribs)

You can reply by clicking the edit button that is next to the section title. And depending on how far the conversation has gone, place a colon to indent your comment (like how I have place a colon in my reply).
Usually, editors will explain their reasons in the edit summary as seen here.
No, it means adding content to Bulbapedia.
IIRC, the main site is the hub to all the other sites (forums, wiki etc..).--ForceFire 14:02, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Oh okay, so am I replying now? The preview doesn't seem to show the part where my text is moved to the right though... ThexFoondom (talk) 14:12, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Forgot to mention that you have to place more colons as the discussion grows. So if you were to reply to me, you would place four colons. And I would place five colons if I were to reply back, so on, so forth.--ForceFire 14:20, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
Ohhh. Okay. So I made this edit to Bulbasaur, Charmander and Squirtle, and it got undone, but there are no reason. It was undone before with a reason, but then I fixed the thing that the reason said I did wrong, but this time there are no reason. :I ThexFoondom (talk) 14:42, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
The reason it was undone the second time was because it was still not notable. The Kanto starters are not the actual starters, so they shouldn't be mentioned on the opening page. I assume ArcToraphim reverted you on the grounds of edit warring. I find it odd that you read the first reason but still decided to add it back, the reason was very clear on why it was removed.--ForceFire 14:51, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
The reason I added it back second time was because he said they were not actual starters, so I just removed the part where I typed "second starter". I thought it would be a nice detail, as they are sort of second starters but apparently not. Therefore I would just put it in without the starter part. I did also wonder why he removed it, instead of just editing it out himself. Oh well. :P ThexFoondom (talk) 15:46, 16 September 2014 (UTC)
I wasn't removing it for edit warning. I was removing it because the information doesn't belong there, full stop. The Kanto starters are not the only 'non native' starters the player can receive in-game, and what games they can be received in is covered in the 'game locations' section, and just because they aren't given in the post game or after an accomplishment is reached doesn't negate they are still not starters in X and Y.
Now, as for why their wasn't a reason, I put the reason in Squirtle's reversion "Doesn't belong there." thinking all three reversions would go through, but as you can see, Squirtle's page still contains the added content whereas Charmander and Bulbasaur's were reverted. As frustrating as it is, I cannot remove your addition, because the page times out on me, even now. But it still stands: it doesn't belong and needs to be removed.
