The Generation Motifs...

Perhaps this isn't my place to say this, but I'm starting to wonder if the 'Motifs' you're adding to the Generation articles are really necessarily. I mean, they almost seem opinionated, and most wikis go for the facts and not so much the opinions. I mean, not everyone will think that Generation I is inspired by Genetics and Engineering, and so on. This could all work better as an Editorial, but not so much as part of an article here, I think. I tried to make it as factual as possible, and more importantly show something special about each series of games so everybody's favorite wins. There's a lot of stuff written that could be seen as a negative opinion but It was still there on the page so I assumed having actual facts could not go wrong - Everything I wrote was taken from the games alone so if you feel its too opinionated feel free to get rid of it. The main reason I added it was to bring identity to each game so they're not just sequels based on what looked like opinions such as "repetitive, like Feebas, or gimmicky, like Shedinja." There's no evidence that anyone feels that way. But if I'm wrong feel free to undo it. It only took an hour so I'm fine. :] The Robert Gonzalez 01:15, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

They may have been given a lot of insight, but they still seem opinionated. Not everyone will view it the same light, and some of those things (such as the Genetics and Engineering) could be taken as coincidence. While it is a fact that someone of those share a common theme in some ways, it's not a fact that this 'connection' was intentional. You know, maybe it would just be better to take this up to an Editor, or one of the admins and see what they think... Rai Marshall 07:31, 27 July 2010 (UTC)
Well each generation was stated as being "directed towards..." the motif. Not completely. The 1st gen could be seen as "basic", the second could be seen as "modern" and the third could be seen as "feudal Japan". There's just less evidence in-game proving it. While unintentional, Hoenn made Pokémon feel natural like animals & weather deities & sentient rocks. Johto no matter how you slice it was traditional, concerning most of the premise (apricorn balls, kimono girls, sprout tower, etc.) and Legendaries never had a backstory till that point. Kanto was the ONLY generation to have that many dna-focused Pokémon or 3 fossils or a legendary man-made Pokémon. All suceeding generations had their descendants alone except for Castform, a man-made weather balloon Pokémon, in Hoenn. Anyway, if you do decide to keep these motifs, I won't be able to do Sinnoh's because I only own one game per generation at this point, the 4th being HeartGold. That one is mostly about Expansion, and I'm sure you could put the pieces together from that like all the others. These motifs are not what I believe, but I do believe they're in the games due to evidence. The Robert Gonzalez 10:54, 27 July 2010 (UTC)

link templates and spelling

Please remember to use link templates when linking Pokémon, moves, etc. If you don't, it will link to a disambiguation or a redirect. You can find a list of link templates here. Also, I noticed how you were spelling Poké Ball and other variations as Pokéball/Masterball/whatever. They are two words and should be typed as such. Adding Trivia

Please don't. There is currently a ban on adding trivia because of server stress. Their is a reminder on the green banner on the top of every page. Please try to edit in other areas for now. Thanks! --Pokemaster97 01:56, 3 September 2011 (UTC)

Sorry, I was completely oblivious to the bulletin until after the second edit! The Robert Gonzalez 02:02, 3 September 2011 (UTC)
