Userpage policy

I've reverted your edit on MaahirMomtaz12 page, as per our userpage policy, you can't edit someone's userpage unless you have permission or to edit any images that were uploaded. This is what we have talk pages for.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 15:45, 19 August 2023 (UTC)

Again, don't edit others' user pages without permission. glikglak 15:52, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Greninja page

Hey there, thanks for mocking up a page for Greninja in UNITE. Unfortunately, I had to move it out of the mainspace since it still uses userspace templates. It's now at User:Oddkidd/Greninja (Unite).

Anyway, I was gonna ask if it's okay for me (or others) to help you out trying to refine it? (I might have some time later.) Nescientist (talk) 16:45, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi, I honestly wouldn't mind help. Let me know when you're free. My discord is the same name.--Oddkidd (talk) 17:03, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
I usually add {{User:Abcboy/Edit}} (most often in addition to {{mainspace}}) to my unfinished userpages, so anyone could edit and flesh them out when they have the time (as if it was a mainspace page already).
I know several people who are interested in showing Unite characters some love, and I would imagine it's even more than that. Nescientist (talk) 17:20, 5 September 2023 (UTC)
Hey, so I fixed the Greninja page in my space, I also noticed that moves were added in List of Pokémon in Pokémon UNITE. It is making the page huge and difficult to scroll through. Why can't we do the same with what you did for Pokken Tournament Pokemon?--Oddkidd (talk) 06:13, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
Regarding that data on moves - much of it was deleted by a user about 2 months ago, but they never ended up re-posting it anywhere else on the site - I figured restoring it (for now) may help with the UNITE-page-for-each-Pokemon project here. Could save some work, perhaps?
The list page is probably too big now, I agree - but this splitting project should be able to remedy it, I think. Something on the level of Pokken's fighter pages for each Pokémon is the goal, as I understand it.
We just need to make sure the "Greninja (UNITE)" page sample and its related templates (infoboxes etc) have a good format established, that other UNITE Pokemon pages can then use - which it's doing a very good job of so far, great work!
If I may make some suggestions: the section on the basic attack might be easier to digest if it has a format similar to the moves' boxes. I also think the holowear could benefit from a table of their costs/unlock requirements.
To get a sense of the roadmap: once the templates and page layout are approved to go into mainspace, they could then be applied to other UNITE Pokémon - and after that, the list page can be trimmed down to link to those dedicated pages. --Boblers (talk) 11:23, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
That sounds great, and yes, re-adding the moves is actually helpful since I was looking for the images and was planning on uploading them. I'll edit what I did here User:Oddkidd/Greninja (Unite) based on your suggestions (which are valid) and report back. Thank you for the response!--Oddkidd (talk) 12:13, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
Hey so I fixed it and also followed your suggestions. Thoughts? And is it possible to approve them for the main space to start the pages? (can you tell i'm excited)--Oddkidd (talk) 18:58, 6 September 2023 (UTC)
I did some changes to the template, let me know what you think.
Also, how about the background color matching the Role? That's what the game itself does, and I tend to adapt in-game style as much as possible/feasible (since that's what users will already know, visually).
(I was also wondering how Mewtwo would look like? Did you have two separate pages in mind? Or, if not, would the template need to be adapted?) Nescientist (talk) 12:26, 9 September 2023 (UTC)
It looks good, thanks for refining it. As for matching templates with roles, I'm personally not too keen on that because I feel like a casual reader will not immediately think of the color as that of the Pokemon's role in the game. They're all Unite Pokemon, so why not just use one template and have the role be mentioned within it... but, since the game uses the Roles' color scheme in the License (also uses it with all Holowear Licenses except purple-flagged Holowear), I think we could do the same if we want to match the game as much as possible, which is what you intend to do. It's up to you, but my question is what would the border and background colors look like, say for an Attacker-role Pokemon like Greninja? Do we continue to use the same Violet border for all and only change the background? Also does that include the color scheme for Abilities and Moves as well?
As for Mewtwo, I was thinking the same thing. As you might know, Mewtwo's two Licenses have different stats, and X is a Physical Melee All-Rounder and Y is a Special Ranged Attacker. Both have the same names for moves and abilities, but both use them differently. For example, X's Future Sight grabs opposing Pokemon towards you, while Y's shoves them. Teleport also works differently for both, and both have different cooldown for each move. My suggestion is to create two different pages (and maybe a designation page in case someone searches "Mewtwo UNITE"). In Mewtwo's main page, we can just link both pages. --Oddkidd (talk) 06:49, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
I'd like to mention one more thing regarding moves, some moves have two categories instead of one, like Gengar's Dream Eater being both Dash and Hindrance. I tried to edit the template for moves to incorporate both (if a move has two cats) but it's not working for me. I can probably figure it out if I spend time with it. If you know how to do it then go ahead and fix it if you have the time as I've been busy this whole week. Note that it's best if the two categories are placed next to each other, not below one another, with the same roundy top border for both. - unsigned comment from Oddkidd (talkcontribs)

(unless you have something better in mind? Cuz the fact that Ranged appears below its icon while Melee and Dash appear next to their icon is seriously bugging me. I guess we can lower the font size but that would look very unpolished of us and I think you would agree) - unsigned comment from Oddkidd (talkcontribs)

The Preview Button

Instead of editing a page several times in a row, try using the preview button to make sure your edit looks the way you want it to. It's right next to the Save Page button. Please try it out, so as not to clog up the Recent Changes. Also, if you want to edit multiple sections of the page, make sure that you click "edit this page" at the top of the page rather than editing it by section. Thanks! --FinnishPokéFan92 (talk) 17:43, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Reverting Edits

If someone posts a message on your talk page, do not revert your edit to remove it, Finnish is an experienced member of Bulbapedia and is offering you helpful advice.--BigDocFan, Junior Admin Bulbapedia (talk) 17:51, 5 September 2023 (UTC)

Hi there!

Hi! Just wanted to remind you about the preview button. Have you tried it out? It's worth noting that when making multiple consecutive edits, it clutters things up a bit, such as the recent changes feed and edit histories. Particularly on talk pages it makes it harder to keep track of the discussion, and may interrupt someone trying to reply. The preview button can help prevent this by allowing you to go over your edits/comments and make sure you've said everything you'd like to say before saving changes, keeping everything in one edit. If you absolutely must leave a new comment or add anything to what you previously said on a talk page, make sure to give it its own signature and time stamp. As far as editing existing comments, this is discouraged. However, it's sometimes okay to correct a spelling mistake or something that you can't live with, but I'd do this sparingly. If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask me or another staff member. Thank you! Landfish7 07:18, 12 September 2023 (UTC)
