By creating your account you are now able to edit pages, join discussions, and expand the community-driven Pokémon encyclopedia. Before you jump in, here are some ground rules:

  • Be nice to everyone. It's in the code of conduct.
  • Make good edits. Preview them before you save to make sure they're perfect the first time around.
  • Use wikicode and link templates when adding content to a page.
  • Use proper grammar and spelling, and read the manual of style.
  • You can't create a userpage until you've added to the encyclopedia. It's a privilege. See the userspace policy.
  • Use talk pages to resolve editing disputes. Don't "edit war," or constantly re-edit/undo the same thing on a page.
  • If you have a question about something, be proactive. Take a look at our FAQ. If you're still stuck, ask for help. The staff won't bite.
  • Sign all talk page posts with four tildes (~~~~). This will turn into your name and the time you wrote the comment.
  • For more handy links, see the welcome portal.
Thank you, and have a good time editing here!

Sources

Hi! We appreciate your recent contributions here. I'd like to make sure you know, however, if you see some information on another site, please don't just copy it and add it here.

Also, please be aware that PokeBeach is not considered an acceptable source here; we just can't accept any information that comes from PokeBeach. If there's a more direct source, try to refer to that, but never use PokeBeach's info.

Thanks. Tiddlywinks (talk) 23:00, 20 January 2017 (UTC)

Hi!
Yeah, the changed was confirmed first and foremost by the TCGO now that the new Sun & Moon and theme decks are active, but kinda hard to cite that ;-)
That is what lead me to searching around, and that was the only English documentation I could find regarding the changes, so that is why I referenced it. That site links to a Japanese site that, when translated, says the same thing, but I assumed linking to an English site would be taken better than linking to a Japanese site from an English wiki.
Note about not directly copying received via the edit comments - will rephrase things in my own words in the future!

Cheers!! Hyacin (talk) 02:00, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
It may be worth reiterating, if the same thing happened and Beach was the only English source you could find, it still would not be acceptable to add that info based on Beach's translation. Just want to be sure you understand our position. At worst, you can always try to post on a talk page and see if anyone can independently verify the original source. Thanks. =) Tiddlywinks (talk) 16:49, 21 January 2017 (UTC)
Yeah, I get that - what of the fact that I was seeing it live in the TCGO though? I can't cite that, but finding a source was really just a means of illustrating what I was seeing with my own eyes. What to do in that situation? Hyacin (talk) 21:04, 25 January 2017 (UTC)
If you're seeing it firsthand, you can just say that you're adding it because you're seeing it firsthand. Information found directly from primary sources doesn't require a secondary source. If it's something that people are likely to disbelieve or challenge, then providing a screencap in the edit summary (for instance, via an Imgur link) is a somewhat common method of providing pre-emptive proof.
