Double Chain set 1 →

The fifth set in the Pokémon Mezastar Super Tag series was released on April 21, 2022 and consists of 70 tags. It is the ninth set overall.

Information

The principal Pokémon for the fifth Super Tag set were the Legendary Sky High Pokémon Rayquaza and Genetic Pokémon Mewtwo. The two appeared as Grade 6 Superstar Pokémon and respectively had the ability to Mega Evolve and Dynamax. Several other Pokémon in the set also supported these mechanics: Grade 5 Aggron could Mega Evolve; Grade 6 Zarude and Lucario, as well as Grade 5 Nidoking, Alakazam, and Corviknight could Dynamax. The final evolutions of the Alola first partner Pokémon, Decidueye, Incineroar, and Primarina, appeared as Grade 6 Pokémon supporting the Super Tag mechanic; Grade 5 Gardevoir and Toxtricity also featured Super Tag partners. Pokémon capable of using Z-Moves comprised Grade 6 Garchomp and Grade 5 versions of Chesnaught, Delphox, and Greninja. An Eternatus capable of using the move Eternabeam and Naganadel, one of the first Ultra Beasts to appear in Pokémon Mezastar, rounded off the Grade 6 Pokémon from the set. Previously featured Superstar Pokémon Reshiram, Zekrom, and Diancie could be encountered and obtained as Legacy tags from May 26, 2022.

Players who used a Memory tag at any time from the set's launch until June 29, 2022 would earn a stamp as part of the Weekly Stamp gameplay feature. If players used a Memory tag with the same profile in a subsequent week, they would earn another stamp. Players who accumulated two stamps would unlock a spring top Fashion Item for players to customize their avatar; four stamps would unlock a Superstar Sensor; five stamps would unlock an Eternatus Emblem; six stamps would unlock another Superstar Sensor. Players with the Eternatus Emblem would then have a chance to add Eternatus to their Support Pokémon roster during Get in Battle! mode. Players with Memory tags could also unlock up to three new Partner Pokémon from this set: Hatenna, Grubbin, and Larvitar, which could be evolved through to their final stages by earning Star Points. Double Star Points could be earned in two stints over the course of the set: between April 29 and May 5, 2022 and between June 16 and July 6, 2022. People with a Mezastar Club account could redeem digital tickets at any time for the duration of this set and scan them on Mezastar machines to unlock exclusive features. These included a Support Pokémon Ticket for a Dracovish and a Present Ticket to unlock male mash hairstyle, female wolf hairstyle, and retro mini sunglasses Fashion Items. A limited Present Ticket for an origami hat Fashion Item could be redeemed through the club between May 5 and 18, 2022 in celebration of Children's Day.

The Trainer and Battle lineup for this set included two returning Trainer classes in Youth Athlete and Magician, two new Trainer classes in Gourmet Boy and Charisma Owner, and a new Star Trainer named Kinika. Mezastar Club members could redeem Battle Tickets for each opponent and challenge them to unlock new customization options for their avatar. A special Battle Ticket was subsequently available through the club and could be used on machines between May 14 and July 6, 2022.[1] This ticket allowed players to battle Mr. J, a persona sometimes adopted by Mezastar Navigator J in Mezastar TV episodes. The distribution of this ticket coincided with the Special Training from Mr. J! campaign, a ranked event open between May 14 and June 8, 2022. Participants who defeated Mr. J during the campaign would unlock a Mezastar TV logo hoodie Fashion Item for their avatar. The players with the top 100 scores at the end of the campaign also won a certificate. Previously featured Star Trainers Hiroki and Tarmo were the Trainer Tag Battle opponents for this set.
