She is the daughter of two [[Galar]] [[Pokémon Champion]]s. In her youth she watched videos of her father in his younger days as Champion, which inspired her to start a journey of her own and become Champion as well. Her mother was not very supportive of this however. Even so, Tsubomi bought a large amount of [[Poké Ball]]s at the local [[Poké Mart]] and ventured into the wild to try and capture a Pokémon. Unfortunately, she proved unsuccessful in capturing a number of Pokémon.

Eventually, Tsubomi came across a {{p|Nidoran♂}} and saved him from an {{p|Arbok}}. Just as she started to bond with Nidoran♂, his parents (a {{p|Nidoking}} and a {{p|Nidoqueen}}) showed up. The parents assumed Tsubomi meant harm to Nidoran♂ and chased her back to her hometown. The Nidoking and Nidoqueen were stopped from entering the town by a couple of local Trainers using their Pokémon. Meanwhile, Tsubomi rushed back home to get her father's Charizard, Chorobi, to help out. Riding and commanding Chorobi, she was able to put a stop to the fight between Nidoran♂'s parents and the Trainers. Nidoran♂ had become attached to Tsubomi and chose to stay with her and leave his parents.
