Splash is a non-damaging Normal-type move introduced in Generation I.

The only move yet known to have no effect on either the opponent or the user, Splash was originally the signature move of Magikarp, but since Generation II, other Pokémon have been able to learn it too. While the English name suggests an association with water, the Japanese name, はねる, can mean both "splash" and "hop" (although usually the latter). This explains why the move can be learned naturally by Pokémon such as Spoink and Lopunny, species who have no association with water but are known for hopping or jumping.
