Whitney: Difference between revisions

Whitney appeared in the episodes ''[[EP158|A Goldenrod Opportunity]]'' and ''[[EP159|A Dairy Tale Ending]]''. She is a sweet but ditzy young lady and easily gets lost in her own home town.

In Whitney's first appearance, she runs up to [[Ash's Pikachu]] after he bumped into her {{p|Clefairy}}. She takes care of Pikachu by giving him a kiss on the head, much to his amusement. Whitney then takes {{Ash}} and {{ashfr}} to the Goldenrod Galleria by taking the [[Goldenrod Tunnel|Underground Path]] as a shortcut there. However, they have stumbled across many areas that they didn't want to go to. After this happened for awhile, they go to a restaurant to get hamburgers. Later, Whitney encounters {{TRT}} and they get her Clefairy. The trio gets chased down to a [[Magnet Train]]. They get on the train but are stopped by Whitney, Ash and his friends. Team Rocket leave on the train empty-handed. After learning Whitney is the Goldenrod Gym Leader, {{Ash}} challenges her to a Gym match. He manages to defeat her first two Pokémon but is unable to stop her {{p|Miltank}}, who constantly used {{m|Rollout}} to deflect attacks.

After Ash's defeat, Whitney invites him to her Uncle [[Milton]]'s dairy farm, where many Miltank were raised to produce milk for consumption. Ash, {{an|Brock}}, and {{an|Misty}} spend the day taking care of the dairy's many Miltank until {{TRT}} arrive with a barrel-shaped robot. During his fight against them, Ash comes up with a strategy to defeat Miltank and asks Whitney for another match. He uses {{AP|Totodile}} and {{AP|Cyndaquil}} to slow it down, then has {{AP|Pikachu}} knock it out. Though the match had taken place outside of the Gym, Whitney accepts the defeat and awards Ash the Plain Badge.

She makes a small cameo along with [[Morty]] in ''[[DP147|Bagged Then Tagged!]]'' when it was revealed that {{an|Lyra}}'s next Gym challenge was supposed to be either one of them.

|desc=Whitney's {{p|Clefairy}} first appeared when {{AP|Pikachu}} accidentally knocked onto Clefairy. After shopping, Whitney found that Clefairy is missing, but has been caught by Team Rocket. Then, at the Magnet Train platform, it uses Metronome which turns into Gust, getting Pikachu back.  

It is used again as the second Pokémon in the Gym battle against {{Ash}}. It begins with Metronome. However, it turns into a Splash attack. Then, {{AP|Cyndaquil}} uses another {{m|Flamethrower}}, forcing Whitney to withdraw it from the match.

Clefairy also seems to be Whitney's favorite Pokémon, as it is usually seen traveling [[Walking Pokémon|out of its Poké Ball]].

|desc={{p|Nidorina}} was the first Pokémon used by Whitney in the Gym battle, battling against Cyndaquil. However, none of her attacks are a match for Cyndaquil's Flamethrower. Nidorina is soon defeated by Cyndaquil's second Flamethrower.

Unlike Whitney's other Pokémon, Nidorina isn't a {{type|Normal}} Pokémon. The reason why she has her despite of this isn't explained.

|desc=Whitney's {{p|Miltank}} was the last Pokémon used in the Gym battle. It manages to defeat Cyndaquil by using {{m|Rollout}} continuously. Ash then uses {{AP|Totodile}}, telling it to use {{m|Water Gun}}; however, it did not slow Miltank down. With another Rollout, Totodile was knocked down. Pikachu was then used to {{m|Thunderbolt}} Miltank, but was ineffective. Pikachu was defeated by the second Rollout.

It appeared again in the [[EP159|next episode]], sending {{TRT}} flying. Then, in a friendly battle before Ash can challenge Whitney once again, it manages to defeat Ash's Cyndaquil and Totodile, but is defeated by Ash's Pikachu, earning Ash the {{Badge|Plain}}.}}
