::Because "ra" and "la" are the same syllable in Japanese... it's sort of an in-between thing. It's why all of the Pokémon whose Japanese trademarked names begin with an L (Lugia, Latias, Lucario) are named with an R by the weeaboo fans (Rugia, Ratiasu, Rukario), because that's what the katakana of their names translates as if romanized Hepburn-style (ルギア, ラティアス, ルカリオ).
