- Thats obviously what he meant. anyway does any on else thinks Shiftry looks like "Jariya the Toad Sage" from Naruto? I mean their both ninjas, have sandal feet, and have long white hair.
- Technically, Shiftry is a Tengu, not a Ninja... while they're both known for being tricky and hard to find, they're quite different. Long white hair like that is based on something, I forget what...

Tengu sandals
Nothing important, but the "one-toothed sandals" are, in fact, tengu-geta, a type of sandals that are associated with "tengu", the japanese spirits in which shiftry is heavily based. Zak Undersn 17:13, 4 March 2009 (UTC)

- Looks like it was supposed to redirect to the Ruby backsprite, but was typoed to Metang's instead (375, as opposed to 275). Fixed. Tiddlywinks (talk) 01:55, 19 August 2014 (UTC)
Oak tree
Given that its first form seedot is based on an acorn, one would expect shiftry to have some sort of relation to oak trees. However, my edit was reverted. The evolution of seedot seems to make no sense. RubyLeafGreenCrystal (talk) 22:28, 3 April 2017 (UTC)
- Lots of evolutions are tenuous. If a remora can evolve into an octopus, then an acorn can evolve into a tengu. It doesn't have to be an oak tree just because its pre-evolution is an acorn. Pumpkinking0192 (talk) 05:58, 4 April 2017 (UTC)
