They wouldn't make a point of highlighting that if Remoraid was based off a larva. :::::Yes, this is true; but I think maybe Remoraid's body shape and eye placement could be alluding to the fact that it evolves into an octopus. It's obviously not the only thing it's based on, nor the most prominent, but I think it is there to make Remoraid slightly more related to Octillery. And, also, the anime isn't always the same as the games.
