In the international releases of the [[Generation I]] and {{gen|II}} games, many [[glitch]]es contain Japanese characters called {{wp|kana}}, with the notable example of ゥ, the small form of the {{wp|katakana}} character ウ. The localizations of these older games were not supposed to contain ''any'' kana at all but some characters were left behind within the internal data.
