Lightning Energy (Japanese: 雷エネルギー Lightning Energy) is a Basic Energy card which provides one Lightning Energy (Lightning). This can be attached to Pokémon cards and used to power moves with Lightning or Colorless Energy requirements.

Release information

During the BW era, this card was released as one of the BW-P Promotional cards, numbered 015/BW-P, and was included in a ten-card random pack released during the February 2011 Gym Challenge. It was reprinted again in the BW-P Promos, numbered 086/BW-P, as a winner's prize awarded to those who won various competitions at the Summer Carnival from July 23 to August 28.

As of the XY Series, there are 2 English prints of Lightning Energy. The first is the print included in the XY expansion. The second is the Unnumbered ©2013 print, which was included within the Template:Merch.

Two Japanese prints were released during the XY Era. A special Unnumbered XY-P Promotional print was released as one of nine possible stamped basic Energies included within the Pokémon Coin Set, a product exclusive to Lawson stores released December 13, 2013. A Mirror Holofoil Unnumbered XY-P Promotional card was made available as part of a twelve card promotional pack awarded to those who participated in the Pokémon Card Gym tournaments from the month of February 2014 through the month of April 2014.

Trivia

  • Prior to the Expedition Base Set, all prints of this card credited Keiji Kinebuchi as its illustrator. The Expedition print, as well as all subsequent prints, did not list an illustrator credit.
  • The background for the HeartGold & SoulSilver variant has an outline of Ampharos and the Glitter Lighthouse.
