Information

EX Power Keepers is the name given to the sixteenth and final main expansion of the EX Series of the Pokémon Trading Card Game. In Japan, it was released as World Champions Pack, the tenth and final expansion from the PCG era[1] and is unique in that it was released during the DP era. It is based on Pokémon Emerald, featuring Generation III Pokémon and the Hoenn region Elite Four. The English expansion was released on February 14, 2007, while the Japanese special set was released on July 5, 2007.

In Japan, the set was first available in first edition through the Pokémon Card Game website and at Summer Battle Road 2007[2]. It was intended for Japanese players so they would not be at a disadvantage at the 2007 World Championships. That is why it came out after two DP expansions had been released. Japanese players could order their packs online from June 15 until July 1. Packs were released from July 5 onward to those who had ordered them. Each pack contained fifteen cards.

EX Power Keepers was the final expansion to feature the set logo on the bottom right corner of the artwork of Reverse Holofoil cards. Only the Reverse Holofoil versions of the Rare Holo cards had the gold foil name and HP text.

The EX Power Keepers set is released in English, German, and French, with cards also available as Reverse Holofoils. The World Champions Pack is only released in Japanese, in both 1st and unlimited edition.

The unlimited World Champions Pack is one of the rarest Japanese booster packs. It was created as a reprint and was only available for sale during Spring Battle Road 2008. Information about the release of the unlimited World Champions Pack is extremely hard to find. An archived page of the official Pokémon TCG website mentions the end of a limited sale on May 16, 2008[3] which would coincide with Spring Battle Road 2008. Some Japanese websites mention a sale of World Champions Packs during Spring Battle Road 2008[4][5]. It is believed that the unlimited World Champions Packs were only available for sale for the competitors. Unfortunately Battle Road Spring 2008 was cancelled due to bomb threats so three out of the five event venues were cancelled [6]. This explains the rarity of the unlimited World Champions Pack, making it one of the rarest Japanese sets. It is only overshadowed by the unlimited edition Japanese cards of the Base Expansion Pack set, of which some cards were given through lotteries. Unlimited World Champions Pack cards are thus extremely rare which make some of them, like the Gold Stars; very expensive.
