Kricketot (Japanese: コロボーシ Koroboshi) is a Template:Type2 Pokémon.

It evolves into Kricketune starting at level 10.

Biology

Physiology

Kricketot is a large cricket-like Pokémon with a musical voice. It is able to stand on its hind legs and walk using its two short, strong back legs. Kricketot is mainly red in color, with a white collar-like feature across its neck, a white streak down the front of its body, small black limbs and a black "cape". It has two black antennae that are similar to a mustache. The antennae seem to be connected to the body by a dark-red segment, and Kricketot's round nose is also dark red in coloration.

Gender differences

A female has a bigger collar than a male.

Special abilities

They are able to create a xylophonic sound by shaking their head and rubbing their antennae together, which they use to communicate.

Behavior

It chats with others using the sounds of its colliding antennae. As its legs are short, when it stumbles its antennae clack with a xylophone-like sound.

Habitat

Unlike its evolved form, Kricketot cannot be found during the mid-day to afternoon. It usually lives on trees.

Trivia

  • Kricketot is less common in the wild than its evolved form, Kricketune: it cannot be found during the day, while Kricketune can.
  • Kricketot is so far the only Pokémon with a base stat total of 194.
  • Kricketot was initially believed to evolve into either Volbeat or Illumise, however, this is now known to be false.
  • Kricketot has lower base stats than Magikarp, commonly thought to be the weakest Pokémon. However, Kricketot has a more diverse and powerful movepool in Pokémon Platinum.

Origin

Kricketot is based on a cricket and a music conductor.

Name origin

Kricketot is a corruption of cricket and tot. Korobōshi's name is derived from kuroboshi tsutsuhamushi, the black-spotted leaf beetle, or 蟋蟀 koorogi, cricket, and 黒星 kuroboshi, black-spot.

In other languages

  • German: Zirpurze - From zirpen (to chirp) and purze, short form of Purzel (cute little fellow).
  • French: Crikzik - From misspellings of criquet (cricket) and musique (music).
  • Korean: 귀뚤뚜기 Gwittulttugi
