Ash Ketchum: Difference between revisions

Most of the time, it is the Pokémon that Ash uses that recieve cards. Usually, these are released alongside [[Pokémon movie]]s. The first of these was a [[jumbo card|jumbo]] {{TCG|Unnumbered Promotional cards|promo card}} for his [[Ash's Pikachu|Pikachu]] teamed up with the [[Pichu Brothers]], which was [[Pichu and Pikachu (CoroCoro promo)|Pichu and Pikachu]]. It was a tie in to ''[[PK07|Pikachu and Pichu]]'', one of the [[Pikachu short]]s. The first card released at normal size was {{TCG ID|Movie VS Pack|Ash's Torkoal|9}}, as part of the {{TCG|Movie Commemoration VS Pack: Sky-Splitting Deoxys}} {{TCG|deck kit}}. That kit was released to coincide with ''[[M07|Destiny Deoxys]]''. Several more of Ash's Pokémon would receive cards in deck kits in this manner. As cards with "Ash's" as a prefix, they are mechanically [[Owner's Pokémon]].

Cards relating to Ash returned in the [[Pokemon Trading Card Game#Black & White Series|Black & White Series]] An event tied to the distribution of [[List of local English event Pokémon distributions (Generation V)#Secret Eggs|Secret Eggs]] which had the possibility of hatching into a {{p|Pidove}} based on [[Ash's Pidove]] (among other main characters' Pokémon) also involved the release of a {{TCG|BW Black Star Promos|BW Black Star Promo}} {{TCG ID|BW Promo|Pidove|15}}. This ties the card to Ash's Pidove as well. In the XY Series, an [[Ash-Greninja-EX (XY Promo 133)|Ash-Greninja]]{{EX}} was released. It showcased [[Ash-Greninja]], a new form that [[Ash's Greninja]] could take on in the show during ''[[S19|Pokémon the Series: XYZ]]''. Both of these cards received English releases.

The [[Pokemon Trading Card Game#Sun & Moon Series|Sun & Moon Series]] has Ash's most prominent appearances in the TCG to date. The {{TCG|Ash vs Team Rocket Deck Kit}} included a complete half deck themed around Ash Ketchum instead of having to share a movie themed deck. Many of the Pokémon have artwork related to Ash's adventures in [[Alola]] during ''[[Pokémon the Series: Sun & Moon]]''. (Although these cards are not named after Ash, and therefore have no gameplay distinction, the context of their artwork and this product mean they very clearly represent the Pokémon that Ash meets.) Ash's Pikachu got another printing, this time as [[Ash's Pikachu-GX (Ash vs Team Rocket Deck 5)|Ash's Pikachu]]{{GX}}. Most importantly, an Ash {{TCG|Supporter card}} was finally printed as {{TCG ID|Ash vs Team Rocket Deck|Ash's Friendship|25}}. It causes the user to draw two cards, but instead draws four cards if that player also has Ash's Pikachu{{GX}} in play.

Ash's Pikachu would be printed seven more times in the Sun & Moon Series, this time as {{TCG|SM Black Star Promos}} representing the various [[Pikachu in a cap|Ash's Pikachu forms]]. These cards, as with the entire promotion surrounding the forms, were a tie in to the movie ''[[M20|I Choose You!]]''. These cards also recieved an English language release.
