Name origin

Dragonair's name appears to be a combination of dragon and air, referring to its ability to change the weather. It may also be a play on the word debonair. Hakuryū could be taken to mean 白竜, white dragon.

It appears to be based on sea serpents or lóng, traditional Chinese dragons who bring good luck.

The proto-type name for Dragonair was "Dragyn," a play on the word "dragon."
