- Dusclops - Gary's starter. Recieved from Professor Rowan (who was out of conventional starters) as a Duskull, later evolved in a fight with Zach's Zangoose at the Pokémon League.
- Magnemite - Found in a herd of nomadic Magnemite at Jubilife City. Seems to hate Magneton.
- Wailmer - When Zach and Gary entered the water Pokémon catching contest, they both decided to keep what they caught.
- Aipom - Given to him by his mother after hearing that he won the Coal Badge.
- Roselia - Recieved as an egg at the Daycare Center for getting a tour of Solaceon Town. Hatched at the Lost Tower, later evolved again while fighting Crasher Wake.
- Ledian - Caught at Route 229 as a Ledyba, later evolved into Ledian while training.

- Garchomp - Given to him as a Gabite from Cynthia as a gift for driving Galactic Grunts away from Eterna City's statue.
- Milotic - Caught along with Gary's Wailmer at the water Pokémon catching contest.
- Electabuzz - Caught as an Elekid at Valley Windworks. Evolved fighting Maylene.
- Gardevoir - Found starving and fed her. She later decided to join his team.
- Ursaring - Recieved as an egg at the Daycare Center for getting a tour of Solaceon Town. Hatched at the Lost Tower, evolved while Training.
