Aromatherapy (Japanese: アロマセラピー Aromatherapy) is a non-damaging Grass-type move introduced in Generation III.

Effect

Aromatherapy cures the user, all Pokémon in the user's party, and the user's allies, of all status conditions (sleep, poison, paralysis, freeze, and burn).

Generations III and IV

Aromatherapy affects Pokémon even if they are behind a substitute.

Generation V

Aromatherapy now lists Pokémon that are healed.

Aromatherapy does not activate Sap Sipper.

Generation VI-VIII

Aromatherapy will now trigger Sap Sipper on an ally. Aromatherapy cannot affect allies behind a substitute, but still affects the user even if it is behind a substitute.

If powered up by a Grassium Z it turns into Z-Aromatherapy, which fully restores the user's HP.

Generation IX

Aromatherapy cannot be selected in a battle.

In Red Rescue Team and Blue Rescue Team, and Explorers of Time, Darkness and Sky, Aromatherapy is a move with 12PP that ignores accuracy and evasion checks. It cures all allies in the same room as user of all status conditions that are considered negative, such as Slowed Down, Nightmare or Constriction, as well as removing move seals (even though they aren't considered a status condition by the game). In hallways, this move targets Pokémon up two tiles away (or one in one-tile darkness). This move is affected by Taunt and Snatch.

Trivia

  • Prior to Version 1.2.0, despite Aromatherapy being unavailable in Scarlet and Violet, it was accidentally not removed from Ice Rider Calyrex's level-up moveset. In the 1.2.0 update, it was replaced with Psychic Terrain, matching what Calyrex's other forms learned at that level.
