Pokémon world locations

The Ice Path (Japanese: こおりのぬけみち Ice Path) is a four-floored cave located in the Johto region that connects Route 44 with Blackthorn City.

In the games

The Ice Path is known for its numerous ice puzzles, which vary in size and difficulty. One example is a Strength puzzle, involving pushing boulders into holes in order to progress. It is the only place in Johto where wild Swinub, Jynx, and Delibird can be caught.

Layout

In Pokémon Gold and Silver, the Ice Path looked like an average cave. It was redesigned in Pokémon Crystal, having received a completely new and unique tile set that better depicts it as an icy cave as well as changes in the features and puzzles. Its design in Pokémon HeartGold and SoulSilver is thus modeled after the Pokémon Crystal design.

The ice cave's Pokémon Center

The Ice Path has not appeared by name in the anime. The Ice Cave, which serves the same role as the Ice Path, appeared in EP250, which is a banned episode. The Ice Cave had a Pokémon Center inside where Nurse Joy was aided by a Jynx rather than a Chansey.
