This card was included in the Fates Collide expansion, first released in the Japanese Awakening Psychic King expansion. The Battle Ruler Theme Deck included an exclusive Cracked Ice Holo variant. A XY Black Star Promotional print was one of the Prerelease cards for Fates Collide, featuring different artwork by the same artist. A print with a gold foil "Staff" stamp was given to those overseeing the event. This print was later included in the Japanese Mythical & Legendary Dream Shine Collection.

It was reprinted as another XY Black Star Promotional card with new artwork by the same artist, included in the Zygarde Collection and the Zygarde Box, released on June 16, 2016. In Japan, this print was one of two XY-P Promotional cards included in the Special Pack: Zygarde Special Set, released on July 16, 2016. The original print was later reprinted in the Japanese Sun & Moon Era, in The Best of XY subset.
