The Yellow arc (Japanese: イエロー編 Yellow arc), also referred to as The Second Chapter (Japanese: 第二章 The Second Chapter), is the second story arc of the Pokémon Adventures manga, consisting of four volumes with fifty chapters. It began serialization in May 1998, and ended in November 1999.
This arc features the journeys of Yellow through Kanto trying to find Red after Red's beaten-up Pikachu ends up at the doorstep at Oak's Lab. In the meantime of finding Red, Yellow gets attacked by the members of the Elite Four and their quest to create a utopia for Pokémon by wiping out most of humanity.
In VIZ Media's first translation of Pokémon Adventures, this arc is known as "Yellow Caballero".
Terminology
- Main article: Terminology of Pokémon Adventures
In the English manga volumes published by VIZ as well as the Japanese volumes, the Red, Green & Blue arc and this arc are both unnamed. However, in the manga listing from VIZ's official website, those two arcs are treated as a single 7-volume arc titled "Red and Blue".[1]
In the official Japanese website, the second arc is known as イエロー編 (Yellow arc).[2]
The second arc was retroactively named "Yellow" in Hidenori Kusaka's message from the English version of Pokémon Adventures volume 14 published by VIZ. However, in the Japanese version of his message, this arc was mentioned by number instead of by name:
- Japanese version:
- 「7冊って第1章と第2章」(seven volumes: the first and second arcs)
- English version:
- "[...] the Red, Blue and Green episodes plus the Yellow episodes total seven volumes [...]"
It is also known as the "2nd Chapter" in the story recaps published in the English volumes from FireRed & LeafGreen arc and Emerald arc.

Unofficial names
The numerical designation "The Second Chapter" is not known to be officially used for this manga arc. This naming system was introduced later in the Ruby & Sapphire arc (officially referred to as "The Fourth Chapter").

European French
Beginning in June 2014, European French publisher Kurokawa began releasing the Red, Green & Blue arc and the Yellow arc together as a series of three omnibus volumes. While the Red, Green & Blue arc and the Yellow arc had been previously released in France by publisher Glénat, these volumes feature a new translation. Kurokawa's omnibus volumes contain all the adventure route maps from the original Japanese volumes, but lack the character introduction pages from the beginning of the volumes.

Trivia
- This arc is technically the only arc of Pokémon Adventures not named after a main series game, as the corresponding game was known as Pocket Monsters Pikachu in Japan. Despite this, the game is called Pokémon Yellow Version in every other country.
- This is the only arc released before its corresponding game. The first arc was serialized in May 1998, while Pokémon Yellow Version came out in September of that year.
